Someone posted this on an earlier thread regarding the xt2 and subscription. So basically any xt, xt2 and 1st gen indoor will have free cloud storage. It doesn't matter when the account is created.
The XT, XT2, and Indoor (First Generation) cameras will always have the free cloud storage even on a new account created on or after April 16, 2020. If you were to add a new Outdoor, Mini, or Doorbell later on, you would need a subscription for those new devices.

From past threads, I remember that there's a way to continuously power the cameras instead of using batteries. I've been looking closely at the latest version of these (using local storage) versus the Wyze camera kit - the reviews point at the Wyze being overall better - but discount the elephant in the room - the Wyze battery charge only lasts 3-6 months. That's one of the reasons I never took the Arlo seriously - having to pull them down often to charge batteries... Just sayin'

I have a family member that has the arlo pro 2 system and I helped them with setting up the arlo solar panel and several outdoor weather resistant USB plugs for their cameras. The Pro 2 still has free cloud storage and their Arlo base has a USB port for a usb thumb drive. I would've liked for them to get the Ultra 2 4k but those model no longer have free cloud storage.
