As an alternative, Legion 5 5600H RTX 3060 17.3" exists at 1180$ at Lenovo's website right now with HOLIDAYOFFERS and LEGIONDEALS20
(also has Slickdeals Cashback available which reduces price to the level of this Asus)

That has a mux switch and a miles better display, as it's a 165hz 300 nit 7ms panel. Both decent deals, but unless you're going to be using an external monitor you wouldn't want such a poor display this Asus has at 1100$+

I think he means this laptop:

https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/la...82jy009cus

...though the specs are slightly different than what he quotes in his message above (refresh rate on the screen, for example).

tempting! the codes he lists take hundreds of dollars off the purchase price.

How does this compare to the GE76 Raider at Costco for $1199 starting next week

The cpumark score on the 5600h is 50% higher than the one I have on my laptop now so I'm fine with it.

Hmmm … no RGB keyboard. Deal breaker for my 11 year old since the GE76 has it. They are basically the same price and same specs. It I thought this one might have a better screen and be a bit lighter.

Ge76 at Costco has a better CPU. And more storage I believe.
