Edit: Looks like this set only includes one XR tool. Amazon set were all XR. Looks to be a good deal after all.

Spoiler Alert: I have had brushed tools for years, they have been fine. I didn't know it was a problem until brushless came out LOL, one of those things you don't need it until they tell you, you need this.
The old metal heavy duty craftsman 1970s tools had those coin-turn ports to change out the brushes, and had a cool arc spark in them. That's the last time I really thought about it.
Net net is, I wouldn't run out and buy brushless and throw away my other tools, but if it's the same price and buying new, why not. Up to you, it's not going to change your life either way.
Edit: now the NiCad to Lithium, that was a game changer!
