Prices are much higher than last year. I bought the air hose reel for 52ish last year, in the 60s this year. Rifle case was 100 last year, this year 120.

Some other poster told me that they know what they are doing (business wise) to get rid of their 20% coupons and freebees. "They made like $5Billion in 2018, so they were smart to remove the coupon."

What a crock.

They made $5B because of the coupon. I haven't stepped foot in a HF for over a year. If I am like $50 spend annual x 40 million Americans = $2B less in revenue and maybe $200 Million in profit (with 10% markup).

I'd like to see their inflation adjusted profit for 2020, 2021, 2022.

HF leadership doesn't care how much you spend. The company doesn't need to turn a profit for the owners to make money. The company takes out loans and the owners use a portion of the loan to pay themselves a dividend. Then they get a bigger loan to refinance the previous loan and pay out another dividend. They repeat every few years borrowing billions each time.

HF had to change their business model because of their suppliers out of china had risen their prices. The business model HF built was on uber cheap disposable tools, they had to give the impression of a more premium product in order to justify the much higher price point, plus they opened brick and mortar stores in un served areas hoping to cash in at higher margins since those areas are used to paying more.

To me HF no longer serves a purpose unless you can't wait for something online to be delivered, other than that their products are just more expensive disposable products, I'll pay more I might as well get something that will last long term.

You're making an awful lot of assumptions there, most substantial that your behavior represents the average consumer. It doesn't. Every time I step into that store the checkout line is a dozen deep, even now with no active coupon. You have absolutely no idea if they made $5B "because of the coupon", you're assuming it.

We will see in a few years when they report income, won't we?
Truthfully, you don't know either until the sales numbers come out. They don't lie.

If their profits are still $5B or more, then I am wrong and all the devil customers/people who used to go because of a coupon for cheaper tools and accessories definitely did not make a bulk of their customers. IMO, if a substantial number (25-50% of their customers used to go because of the coupon or free tarp) is the case, then it will be reflected in their sales...if they care. They may not care. $2B revenue may be enough for them, but YOY revenue will be lower.

They don't make 5 billion a year, they had revenues of 5.1 billion for the fiscal year ending in July 2021. They are privately owned so we don't know what kind of profit they show on that.

You are conflating revenue and profits. They are not the same. They could see revenue come down substantially and still have higher profits.
