Obsolete. Try one of the new ones with the next generation controls, advanced lid, inner pot with handles and higher wattage. If yoiu still want this old style then the Insignia deals which come around at $20 are a better deal. This would have to be $30-40 to be slick imo but judge for yourself with the generous return policies out there.

Yes. All three sentences. Hands on will convince you. Next gen Pro is also on sale for only $20 more. Besides Instant Pot price trends prove that you will signifcantly overpay during the holidays. My fav next gen model Duo Evo Plus 1200 watt was $54.12 June 21 from Amazon.

What is your time worth waiting for your pot to come up to pressure? Fiddling with the old style lid trying to get it to seal, having to work harder to clean the convex bottom, clean around the top of the base, burn your food and your hands? If none of this matters why not buy the Insignia on the repeating $20 deal?

Is the 200 extra watts going to make a real difference in time reduction? I have an 1800 portable induction stove and a 1400 watt unit. It didn't save that much more time.
But the lift handles are very intriguing.
Does the next generation controls really change anything. The buttons are easier to clean on the duo plus then the turn dial.

edit: looks like the higher wattage (200W) results in a 2 minute time saving.

Buy them both and decide for yourself. I've given my opinion here since last year after trying them all. The obsolete models are the ones which are harder to clean and use and by a big margin. I often start cooking on induction before transferring to Evo. Can't do that with obs. The new inner SS pot is more than just handles. Even if you like this obs pot better for some reason the price is no where close to slick.

edit: time savings, wattage: It's not just the extra 200 watts. You can blast the new flat bottom pot on induction then transfer close the lid and you have pressure in seconds. Obviously more of a big deal with 5 quarts of soup than when standard pressure cooking with 3/4 cup. But even there, yes faster. The valves work better too. Logic-wise you can change time and pressure on the fly.

If last year's marketing repeats then the latest model Pro Plus may go on sale for a few hours. Has the programmable pressure release like the Max which is nice if you tend to get distracted and end up with overcooked food.

I'd go with Duo Evo Plus if you can find one under $70. Watch Indigo Nili's youtube reviews. Holidays you will pay as much as 50% more for I.P.

I had a QVC pressure for nearly 8 years and I went thru 3 thermal fuses. Can't get replacements so I broke down and ended up going instant pot lol. I heard the duo Evo plus is a really great one but discontinued.

Btw I got the new Instant pot Pro 6Qt for $79.99 down from $129.99 w/ $15 Kohls cash earlier. The pro replaced the "duo evo plus" which several reviewers said was the best overall instant pot, and best overall multi cooker, with the only complaint being annoying sounds when changing settings and making selections.
