Guess what people? There is no perfect laptop for 99% of us unless ordered custom. Someone drive-by TD but why? Can't counter that other than with my upvote.

Probably mad about the screen. Seems like the number one gripe lately with budget deals. I feel this one is decent if it fits what you are looking for. Expandable and value-priced for a 17 inch. Folks always want to nit-pick. OP working hard to share. You can use rewards towards it too. Not sure about any coupons that would work at the moment.

i3-1125G4 is a quad-core. Yes it is!!! Same as the 11th gen i5 ----This i3 CPU gets same Passmark rating at about 10000 as the i5/11th gen CPU does------- BUT the i5 has superior IRIS graphics. I have the laptop mentioned above with the i3- 1125G4. But mine came with Win 10 -- I clean installed Win 11. Mine came with a Samsung NVMe.

Beware of laptops with the i3-1115G4 CPU --- This CPU is dual core/not quad core!!! and its Passmark is 6000 or so

In other words, you don't know, but are more than happy to give a completely arbitrary opinion without any substantiation at all.

Here; I'll take one for the team and do for you what you wouldn't do for the other person.

This laptop will get 8-9 hours of use on a full charge. This is based on multiple benchmarks showing the exact same laptop with the 32Wh battery getting about 5.5. This equates to approximately 10.3 minutes of runtime per Wh. hence, in this version you can expect about 8 hours of casual use. You might get a little less with heavy use or more with light use.

Yea, seems like a solid deal on a budget laptop to me. 17" even... Not that I would want a screen that large, they are just too cumbersome to me. Nice when you are watching a movie on it.

Not so fast. 16GB would be the max for dual-channel, but you could put a larger stick in the open slot than 8GB. DC is not the be-all and end-all. I would go with another 8GB for now though, as 16GB would be plenty for basic use cases such as surfing and streaming. Just know that there is capability past that for upgrading total RAM (just giving up DC). Sheer volume of storage can overcome the slight advantage of DC.

Probably not IPS display. But 17" with 11th quad core at $400 is still a great deal.
===edit===
if it's IPS like what you quoted from HP, it's a decent deal.

Bought this at $530 a couple of days ago. Build feels solid enough and everything works, but the sound is weak and not as full as the HP we bought at the same time. The charger also sticks when plugging it in - enough to be worried about it. Those are very small complaints, so we will likely keep it (after bugging Staples for the price adjustment).
