It's amazing in that each button is programmed separately directly from another remote. You can use 1 button for tv power, 1 button for sound bar, volume buttons for sound bar, channel buttons for cable box etc. You could program one to an old fan that has a remote or a window A/C unit. Literally each button can do anything that another (IR) remote can do.

How would I use this with my Chromecast remote? It seems like most of the buttons are redundant. What would be some applications for A and B buttons? Is this thing intended to control a third device like a DVD?

Had one for an older Roku that didn't have the power and volume buttons and it was useful.

I have a couple of these for the older Apple TV HD, before the current remote. Perfect solution for that and the added side buttons control the power for the sound bar and can change the input on my TV

These are slick for old Roku remotes without tv controls. All the newer ones and devices have these controls so this is becoming irrelevant but it's a decent product overall for the niche case user.

My a button is mapped to my sound bar power on/off. It goes to sleep if it's idle for a while.

Thanks! This was helpful. My chromecast remote already controls my TV, soundbar, and chromecast. I guess if I had a DVD or other device it could be handy.

I'm finding it at $14.99, not $12.99. I'm going with an Eflea refurb version for $12.99 and free delivery. I'm not sure how much use it will be for me so this is a compromise.

I love this thing. As someone who uses their apple remote a lot it helps turn on and off the tv - helps declutter. You just slide in your apple remote into the sidekick. There's few buttons to do customized function I made my a/b buttons to switch hdmi and tv selecting button.

I'm able to connect to my Vizio soundbar for volume control and power. I connected in the normal setup process for the chromecast remote.
