My $300 i5-12600k doesnt beat this 11th-gen i9 but it's not too far off!

EDIT: the i5 does beat it, by about 5%, imagine that. I built a new PC for sub-$1k with the i5 sans GPU, a champ on a budget

If I recall correctly the AMD could perform a lot better with higher clocked memory...this system should also really have 32gb not 16. NO?

I am fine with my i5-4670 from 2013, and a GTX 1060 on it since I DON'T game, but I have money now, and even though I dont game I wanna use Solidworks 3d rendering, Autocad and large collection of movie transcoding on my own with Premiere Pro, and hook my NAS to it with a 4,000$ budget on the tower alone.

Add another $1000 for the GPU. I would go for the 12700K for $50 at microcenter.

12th generation is a major upgrade. i5 12600 beats 19 11900 in performance. Not much difference between i7 12700 vs i9 12900 in terms of performance. But i7 12th gen is significantly better than i9 11th gen. Given that this is almost 3k one should consider this.
