Leetcode itself is already free. I think paying for Premium just unlocks more questions, more articles, and lot more resources in the "Explore" section where you can deep dive into individual topics. Honestly if you are super frugal then the only thing you will need anyways is the "Discuss" tab and reading and understanding other peoples' solutions and explanations.

Besides Leetcode, there are many competititor sites like HackerRank, CodeChef, TopCoder, etc. I think TopCoder is where the real competitive programmers go to; their tournaments are insanely hard compared to Leetcode's weekly contests. But for the vast majority of people, they just use Leetcode to study and prep for SWE interviews, which Leetcode is great at. The question repository is very large, the IDE is clean and unobtrusive, and it usually simplifies a lot of boilerplate code that you would otherwise have to write (e.g. imports, test framework, etc.) and you can immediately jump to solving the question at hand.

But Leetcode is geared toward practicing these DS & algo questions. If you're just looking for an online IDE, then there are plenty of sites that already do that like jsfiddle, replit, etc.

Does it work like that?
If you have an existing premium subscription, you will have to email leetcode support to cancel your subscription immediately. Then you can subscribe again with the coupon code. It took them 1 business day to cancel my subscription.

But your previous subscription would end earlier, is that worth the $30 difference?

A penny saved is not a penny earned, cuz your biggest cost is the time. A seasoned SDE is 500k/year total compensation that's about $250/hour. Invest more time on skill is definitely worth than coupons. Time is money for a SDE

Leetcode is the top 1 interview prep site, no decent competitor. Cuz it promotes questions that are truly popular in real FAANG interviews. Others like HackerRank, interviewbit, etc, yes, they do have real interview questions but the selection is not so thorough or not very up to the time.
Topcoder is long gone, no many ppl care what's going on in it
The discussion forum of each question is the real deal, the most voted answer is usually better than the official solution which you need pay to get(sometimes the official solution is collected from the discussion) So if you only seek for question and answers no need to pay subscription

nah, if you work at a top company you can easily tell how dysfunctional some high rank employees are. to me, spending money is as much of an art as earning it. without a good balance between the two, you can literally make half a million a year and still live in shambles. i see it happen every day at work. always worth it to spend on worthwhile things and know how to save without cutting corners

I prefer my current $9/hr job that's going to be replaced by a robot within 3 years for sure.

$250/hr? How these jobs exist, why wouldn't you just retire after 3 years.

I work at Google, I think if you carefully went through all the free stuff on leetcode, like you can solving all hard questions in given time, you are already secured for a job at FANNG. However, a hundreds invest is nothing comparing with a successful interview

I'd highly recommend this if you're planning on doing any software engineering interviews within the next year. It's been invaluable to me for interview prep, and in my recent experience the tagged questions do correlate well to questions actually asked for SWE interviews.

Hey, I think I know saw you from one of my OMSCS class. LOL.
How do you feel about OMSCS?

I'm taking accredited classes at my uni to show the admissions committee that I can take, and perform well in, CS courses. Already finished GRE as well and the score is sufficient for GA Tech.
