These are a tricky category for anyone not familiar with, and specifically shopping for, these switches. These speed switches from Kailh are genuinely gaming focused by introducing a shorter actuation point about half that of traditional switches. Being Bronze tactile switches surely helps prevent unintended key presses, but be wary if you're just shopping for a general deal on a mechanical keyboard.

Good luck!

Heck yeah I prefer Amazon! Newegg customer service is horrendous.

I will not buy anything from Newegg unless I'm sure I will not want to return it, and I don't expect any support.

Newegg should be banned from SD with how they have fallen

At this price get this keyboard and buy compatible switches you think you would like the best. I got the clicky and use them on the numberpad and toggle keys, but use box pink silent on the rest of it. I hated the sample linears that it came with, but the real strength of this keyboard is the low price and ability to customize. The weakness that gets overlooked is the sub-par RGB software.

If you had a 'clickier' keyboard, you would have caught that missing T in you last sentence :lmao. JK.
LOL! This is a true comment
I have a linear and I don't have that click sound as acknowledgement the keystroke went through.
Linear may be softer and easier to type than clicky type.. but I learned to press down more firm on the linear to make sure the keystroke went through. So I think more effort on my end to type. That's just my opinion

There's a reason they keep discounting this board, it's not very well liked. Unless you know that you like speed switches I would look elsewhere. Also there are a lot of cheap Chinese keyboards in this price range that are pretty good quality since switch pricing is now dirt cheap if you don't need anything special.

The plus side is this has hot swap switches so you can replace them if you want but packs of switches aren't very cheap so you're probably better off simply buying a different board then.

I have this and it's actually very annoying that the switch actuates before the tactile bump, causing unintended key presses. It's probably fine once you're used to it.
Do you have the bronze switches or the silver switches?

Thanks, my wife hates the clicky keys while she is trying to work so I needed a replacement
When it comes to mechanical keyboards. You have to lube each switch, add a thin layer of foam/rubberbutel for sound dampening inside the keyboard, & add 1 or 2 rubber O rings for each switch but it might give a rubber dome matt keyboard feeling.

I had to return 3 of these to Amazon because they kept sending me the Linear version instead of the Clicky. I eventually had to argue with them to give me a credit to buy the Bronze switches and replace it myself, because they had inventoried ALL of the z15s as Clicky.
Just a head's up.

Great point; here's some detail for anyone looking for an objective measure of what's being described
https://input.club/the-comparativ...ua-bronze/
Tactile event ~1.4 mm
Actuation ~1.25 mm

Contrast this with the same data points for Cherry MX Brown [input.club] or Cherry MX Blue [input.club] where the tactile event occurs at around 1 mm whereas actuation doesn't happen until around 2mm.

Good luck!

Very interesting. I went ahead and bought one via Amazon so I'll keep an eye out.

Good luck!

The silver switches should not have a tactile bump. The Kailh Silver are linear switches.

Good luck!

I've had the bronze switch one for a few months. I think they feel pretty good, especially for being so affordable. I do agree the EVGA metal logo on the shaft is kind of ugly but it's not that bad. Also, definitely recommend getting from Amazon instead of Newegg.

NOTE: I am unsure if this is completely true BUT I heard that this keyboard does not work well in a 2.0 USB port with AMD CPUs. I had this experience. I have a 5600x and the keyboard would randomly disconnect after my PC idled for a while and it hasn't disconnect since the moment I switched it to a 3.0 port.
So. Something to just keep in mind.

I currently have a Corsair K70 (red LED) keyboard. Can someone please explain to me the difference between Linear and Clicky keys? Is this keyboard in any way better than the Corsair? I like the USB passthrough on the K70.

The K70 is super clicky, always getting told to mute myself on work calls, LOL.

Thank you.
The K70 is pretty quiet as far as mechanical keyboards go and a really nice board. Silent linear switches and no high pitched ping when the PBT caps hit the surface of the board (compare youtube sound tests between the K70 and Steelseries Apex 7 for example). Love mine. Try "clicky" blue switches sometime, and make sure you bring your earplugs along lol. Logitech romer-g's are also quiet, and I'm a fan. I have a g810 from a slickdeal a couple years back that is probably my second favorite board, but that now sells for a small fortune, and there is no TKL equivalent unless you want to spend close to $200 on a wireless g915. The TKL form factor is really where it is at for ergonomics if you put in long hours at the desk (whether gaming or working), and among TKL's with good media controls and a volume wheel, options are very limited..

well that sort of goes for any board out there. the only way to know which switch u like is to get a switch sampler and chances are u will like a switch that is not on any of these "budget" hotswap boards LMAO This board is your best bet provided u like the size/shape/features cause a switch pack from gateron kailh etc is cheap 30 bux. Ofc its alot more for premium switches.

If you decide you want a certain switch for this board and are worried about the sound, you can always purchase dampeners or bumpers to quiet when you bottom out.

Also, be aware that if you want to swap out to a new switch, you may want to try and find a site where you can order 10 at a time, to test them out. Keep in mind that with shipping issues going on, there might be a slight delay.

This particular keyboard does not work with switches that have a "light pipe" and apparently Kaihl has recently changed some of their line to include them. I found this out when I was planning to try out their Brown and Speed Copper on my new z15.

I ended up going for Pro Purple and I really like them. Takes more force than the linear silvers, so no accidental keypresses, but it has that slight bump without a loud click.
