The price dropped again for this Dual Fuel Inverter Champion Generator.

Several reviewers report this has (just barely) enough power to run a 13500 BTU RV air conditioner, even on propane.

it was down to $465 a few months ago, but sold out fast.

relatively quiet (53 db), closed frame, light weight (~40 lbs) decent brand, and good features for the price.

Thank you, I had a deal alert set up for this, and have been watching the price. Spitting distance of $500 and I'm in for one. This will be my 5th generator, 2nd closed frame inverter. I was using them strictly for power outage situations at home, but recently bought our first RV and now that 100-pound gas-only HF Predator 3500 isn't as awesome. Not sure what I'm going to do with that yet, but this will be our new travel companion. I don't intend to ever put a drop of gasoline in it, as we usually carry 60-80 pounds of propane. Now I have to go buy a Soft-Start capacitor gizmo for the AC unit, so this Champion will run it.

Of course, I know Honda is way better, but it costs 4X, and then I'd have to spend $300 more on a propane conversion kit. For very casual use. No thanks...

The Amazon model is 200961. The Walmart model is 200962. Besides the color scheme (yellow vs black), the main difference between them is that model 200961 (yellow) has an automotive 12V 8A outlet, while model 200962 (black) has two integrated 5V 2.1A USB ports. Model 200961 comes with a USB car adapter, though. Lastly, the service panel (left side) is slightly different on the two models. Other than that, they are identical in every way.

I own both models and the parallel kit (model# 100740). They are relatively lightweight (39 lbs), small, and can run off a 20 lbs propane tank for up to 34 hours at 25% load. I plan on only running mine on propane, so I don't have to worry about draining unused gas, storing gas, or gumming up the carburetor.

I recommend replacing the OEM plastic oil dip stick with a magnetic version, especially before breaking in the new motor. This will help collect any metal shavings floating around in the oil. I used this one from WEN, which fits this Champion perfectly:

So is this a good temp solution if Texas has winter problems again?

Extremely tempting. I jumped on the ~$300 pulsar deal a few weeks ago but having the propane option and a few more wats for the extra $200 seems almost worth it.

Any thoughts between the 2?

Same price but different units. Walmart unit is model 200962. Amazon unit is model 200961. They are almost the exact same aside from one minor difference (aside from being able to use WM vs Amzn GC's). the 200962 unit comes with 2 USB ports whereas the 200961 unit comes with a 12V car charge port and includes a 2-USB-port car adapter.

I couldn't decide whether to spend the money on a Soft Start, or just get a second generator and parallel kit.

Going to try just one generator, since my AC is only 13500btu.

That's only 2000 watts, and not dual fuel. Wen are comparable to Champion in quality.

This one is gasoline only, the one posted can also use propane. Will come on handy sometimes. With all small two stroke engines, use none ethenol fuel only, otherwise, you need to drain the fuel each time for long term storage.

I have this exact unit and it powers my RV Dometic ac, but I installed a soft start on the ac. I doubt it would power it without one. I love the size. This is also much quieter too. Before, I used a huge 3500 watt unit.
