This popular front page deal from beginning of the month is back:

https://www.amazon.com/Fire-HD-8-...B0839NDRB2

32GB model, Slate color, accept SD card up to 1tb.

8 Plus comes with 1gb more RAM (3gb RAM total), and wireless charging, comes with faster charger (9w, supports up to 15w charging), vs the standard 8 tablet (2gb RAM, 5w regular charger).

I have the Fire HD10 and really like how lightweight it is, perfect to use a consumption device vs the much heavier iPads I have. Because it's so light I can easily use it without fatigue, throw it around, etc. Much easier to use around the house.

This 8 inch device should be great for all around use like in bed, in car, or out and about.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

We've been using a fire hd 8 for this purpose(wyze cams)for the past 4 months or so to keep an eye on our epileptic dog. Originally using tinycam but had some issues with cameras cutting out. So just this week installed google play store to get the wyze app and it seems to work better than tinycam for this purpose. It feels much better to carry around a $50 Amz tablet than a $300+ ipad just to watch the cameras.

Not OP but I had a HD10 and HD8 (not plus). HD10 > HD8, tho I ended up returning both since it couldn't serve my purpose. Would recommend a 10 for $20 more, not the 8. The 8 got a slower processor that's painfully laggy and the screen is inferior, the screen on the 10 is much nicer and better speakers. 8 is easier to carry around
Because they're talking about their experience with the 10, but the advertisement is for the 8. The inference is that the 8 is also light, and therefore "better" compared to the ipad (eventhough the difference is less than half a pound). But the 8, 10, and ipad all have completely different specs and are not comparable.
Agree I just bought both of these. I sent the 8" one back as it was noticeably slower while the 10 was pretty snappy and impressive.

Tip: enable developer options by clicking the device serial number a few times in settings and get the 3 animation scales to .5x instead of 1x it helps these devices tremendously

Post is confusing. You're advertising the Fire 8 Plus, but hyping up the Fire 10

How is this confusing if they quoted Amazons actual listing?

Not sure how it's confusing...I got my first Fire HD 10 tablet just recently, used Amazon toolbox to debloat it and it's great. I think the Fire 8 Plus tablet will be great as well, especially for the dirt cheap price of $55.

Both 8 and 10 version can be great. $55 for the 8 inch tablet is peanuts to have a super portable tablet for media consumption. Can't beat the value of $130 to have both a 10in and 8in tablet that are great media consumption devices.

This is one of those no brainer decisions to get something so low cost but super useful. $75 for the 10in tablet was a no brainer. $55 for this 8in tablet should be a no brainer as well.

My Fire 8 Plus tablet is arriving today and I look forward to setting it up and use as a video consumption device anywhere I go...I'll throw it in my bag and have it with me so I can chill with it anytime, anywhere.

This video test shows both being pretty comparable.

I expect the 8 to be a bit slower but for watching videos and such it won't matter. The Fire 10 HD (non-plus version) is pretty snappy. The 8 shouldn't be that much different based on the video that tests both side by side.
