Is this worth it vs $280 5600X? Tired of waiting for deal on 5600X.
If you plan on CPU mining, the 5900x will net you a few more bucks each month to help justify the initial cost. It's not for everybody but if you don't mind going through the process of setting it up and leaving the PC running 24/7, it will eventually pay for itself. It sucks becoming part of the problem (if you can't beat em, join em) with the increased prices but you can benefit too if you put in the work.

I bought the 5900x not only because its the best AMD cpu besides the 5950x, but because I do video rendering, photoshop, and video production for fun. I probably wont use it in the way professionals do, but it just helps knowing I wont struggle running anything. I think if you are just gaming, stick with the 5800x or below. I had to buy a new mbo because I was having VRM issues in my B450 non max. It worked and ran, just wasnt stable so that was another $200. hope this helps cheers~
People don't seem to like the 5800X cause it runs hot, and the 5600G is gen 3 NVME, I think that's why the 5600X isn't discounted like those two.
I switched from a 3900x to a 5800x since the market let me essentially "Free upgrade/side grade"
The 3900x kept temps lower in programs that didn't use all the cores, but it put out more heat in my dual chamber case. (VRM ran a bit hotter and heat soaked my internals)
The 5800x lets my GPU idle 10C lower which is quite weird but I prefer this. I would say they're fairly even overall for heat output and trade off. My x570 UNIFY VRM (60A * 12 stages) definitely runs cooler now, but its obvious since its 4 less cores.
5800x is a bit more snappier, but memory latency is ironically higher with "X" programs open. 62ns idle, 72ns program open.. 3900x would keep 69ns consistently, but it makes sense given core count.

I switched from 5600x to 5900x and it was night and day difference since I play MS Flight Simulator. This is a good price. I paid $499 from BH Photo Video few months ago with Paypal coupon.
FYI, They are having AMD Sales at least in the Fairfax,VA Store
5950X is 669.99
5900X is now $449.99
5800X is 329.99
5600X is 249.99
5700G is 269.99
5600G is 219.99

5800X is currently $315 at eBay. I haven't seen a good deal for the 5600X which should be $200-$220 at most.

The 5600x is not a great deal at $280 IMO since the 5800x is just a little more.
Best to wait till next month to see if/when the 5600x will drop more.
