For people coming to this deal to say that the Washington Post is biased, do you think that because you only read newspapers for their opinion pages? I don't see how you can say the news reporting is biased--facts are neutral. Perhaps you don't like the topics that get reported on, but they are still facts (as in, they actually happen in reality) and not biased.

I have subscriptions to the Post, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times and I think the reporting by all three are excellent and some of the best in the country. I don't read their opinion pages. I encourage you to give their reporting a read, and perhaps you'll find something interesting. It's best to learn more about the facts, then form your own opinions rather than regurgitating someone else's opinions.

And by the way, this is the best deal I've seen for an annual subscription to a major newspaper. Definitely worth it to see if you find the reporting interesting.
You can get the $9.99 rate for a second year if you cancel today and put the reason "promotion ended"
I just tried and I think this worked. I got two years of a premium subscription at the $9.99 rate. Am I reading this wrong?

Due on November 23, 2022
Rate - $9.99 (plus applicable sales tax)

I NEVER read the Washington Post Opinion pieces, but their Fact-based journalism is still top-notch IMO.
I'm really glad they make the distinction and am happy to provide at least a little support to one of the few remaining institutions that at least attempt to make a distinction between fact-based reporting and opinion pieces.

Awesome deal! My subscription renewed yesterday for $40 and I tried to cancel and it offered me the $10/year rate. They are refunding me $30.

I've been subscribed to the Post, WSJ and Times for years.

The quality has dropped dramatically in each since 2016 but especially the Post and Times.

I couldn't agree more. WSJ being a Murdoch product doesn't surprise me but the NYT has really gone off the rails. I've enjoyed the LA Times a bit more of late if you're looking for a replacement.

Not sure if it was previously mentioned but, if you're worried about forgetting to cancel after the second year's $9.99 charge hits and eventually getting hit with a full-priced subscription fee, privacy.com offers the option of creating a unique credit card number with a dollar amount limit and a user-specifiable expiration date. Just set the card number to have a $10/month limit and to expire in December '22 to allow the second year's $9.99 charge to go through. The unique credit card number must be funded with a debit card.

Does anyone know if this can be added to extend a current subscription? I can't find any limitations on the offer.
Yes, I was able to - it just added a year after my existing promotion. After redeeming the gift code (sent to myself), it said, "Your existing active subscription is extended by the duration of your gift subscription."

I never could figure how to add this gift subscription to my existing account. It asked for a code but I don't have a code. I was not allowed to send the gift to my existing account email so I used an alternate email but the email received only has a link to accept my gift but it doesn't work when I'm logged in to my existing acct.

Which newspaper should I read to get fair and unbiased reporting?
You should trust no reporting by any source. Everybody newspaper has their own agenda.

Guardian has a strong leftist agenda.
Town hall leans right.
Epoch Times's agenda is to get rid of the Chinese Communist Party (they lean towards whoever that's serious about getting rid of the CCP thugs).
WSJ goes back and forth depending on whether Murdoch or his two leftist sons is in charge
FOX strictly tracks whoever that has the say in GOP at the time.
CNN copy-translated ChiCom's propaganda article claiming PLA defeated coronavirus in Apr 2020.
WaPo, NYT, LAT, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, goes with the hands that pays them, which right now is ChiCom controlled big tech that's woke.
Skynews Australia says whatever FOX in the USA doesn't dare to say.

You pretty much have to be there and do the reporters work yourself to trust what you see.

In the United States? None exist.

I tend to read BBC News these days when I just want some news. Content in American newspapers is worth less than the paper used to print it on.

This is a deal thread about a Washington Post Premium Digital Annual Subscription. If you don't care for the WaPo, feel free to TD this deal and move on. Off-topic or other political comments or remarks will not be allowed in this deal thread; that's NOT what the deal threads are for. We have The Lounge set up for off-topic (non-deal) discussions and The Podium set up for political discussion. The deal threads are not for either. Thanks!

Renewal coming up in November, and mine says it will be billed at $150 on Nov. 23. I know I did the thing where I got a second year at $9.99, but it's not showing in my account. I may not be remembering how this worked, but I hate to let it go ahead and renew and be $150 instead of $9.99.

Anyone know if this is supposed to show the renewal at $9.99 if you cancelled after taking up the first year at $9.99?

They just raised the price to $170! But the $9.99 price is showing in my account, and it says that I won't pay $170 until 2023 (see attached image). If you're not seeing it, you probably need to contact them.

Thanks for the heads up! I checked my account, and now it says the same as yours (no idea why it said something different before, but glad it changed!). Cool, we get our second cheap year, and I'll set a reminder to cancel before the $170 charge.

Can always cancel after the renewal and see if they offer another deal. That's how we got it last year.
