I have the 2.0 version... For those who question if its worth it. Imagin a Man and a kid going insane with happiness by hunting flys around the house. Yep. Got flys or bugs in your house, you will fall in LOVE. Some of you might actually enhance your bugasalt by adding lasers and other accessories to it. YES, they make laser sights and stuff for it. lol..

Anyway, It is worth every penny. Thats why I just snagged this one at only 35 bucks. One for my house, and the other for my gf's house!

The official Bug-A-Salt Ebay store [ebay.com] has box-damaged ones for around this price year round. E.g., Currently the 2.5 version is available for $32.95.

My question has always been is the clean up bad? I just imagine I would be constantly sweeping my hardwood floors trying to get all of the salt up.
It doesn't shoot out that much salt, and the cleanup for me is nothing. I do not have carpet in my house, so the Roomba does its thing, and it is all clean.

You can buy it straight from the manufacturer for the same price. Give an American company that makes their product in the USA a bigger chunk of the profit and keep it away from Bezos. Free shipping if you spend $50. Plus you can see all the other crazy stuff they came up with.

Would love to if Bezos didnt offer free shipping.

I used it on one yellow jacket. I got like 4 inches from him and blasted. He fell to floor and I stepped on him without ado (or Her!) as he hobbled around. Was still quite alive.

YMMV

Probably would a good move to find their nests (nails or latch points under outside rafters) and get rid of those. But you probably know that. Cut off nail tips with a dremel below surface and hit with a dab of Day 1: wood putty. Day 2: sand em all, then dab prime them. Not much work, just 2-3 days of execution.
thanks, but we can't find a nest on our property or anywhere else obvious. We live in a suburban area with a fair amount of trees and only quarter of a mile from a large park so it could be any any number of places. I typically don't see them all that much, but whenever I fire up the grill, two or three of them inevitably show up.

I bought this a few years ago and have been bringing this to all my cabin and camping trips. Pretty fun, but also functional. The big and fast flies that you see swarming on dog poop are pretty hard to kill with just one shot unless you are up close but the garden variety house fly will die pretty easily. Most of the time, they just fall to the ground, but in some cases if I'm up close, I will bust open the fly.

My wife's friend's house is over 80 years old and the basement has a lot of spiders. I cleaned it out for her, it's so much fun

I bought this a couple years ago. It's good in that you don't have to deal with guts and grossness. Here are my thoughts :

1) waiting for the fly to land and stay still is a PIA
2) the aim guide is kinda useless, if you aim using the guide you need to raise the gun perhaps an inch to really hit the fly directly; perhaps they improved the guide if they did come out with a new model. I saw someone on YouTube attaching a laser pointer to the barrel so it gets better aim, lol
3) it takes me at least a couple shots to kill (or at least totally sting) the fly, sometimes I do get it in one shot, it depends on how accurate my aim is (see 2 above)

They aren't that useful...its more of a toy. makes a mess in the house.
Nonsense. I have the older version and it is fantastic
- there are usually no guts unless you shoot point blank. Much less gross cleanup than a traditional swatter
- much longer range than a swatter and generally easier to hit

It doesn't leave much salt on the ground unless you are taking multiple shots. Generally I don't bother cleaning up salt as it doesn't leave a big mess. Will never go back to a swatter.

My only concern would be keeping it away from kids, because it is NOT a toy and nobody needs salt shot in their eyes.

Think I would have any problems having this in my airline checked luggage going to another country (Peru Specifically)? I would keep it in the original box
