I've been happy with this one. Returned the TSR-700 and went with this. Much better experience so far.
FYI, I recently got this about a month ago. Mine occasionally drops connection to speakers. Occurs about once a week. Tried different speaker wires and HDMI. Still occurs. Prob just my sample, but just putting it out there. Been waiting for it to come back in stock for an exchange.

I still have the TSR-700. Occasionally it drops connection to speakers and I need to turn off and back ON to reset the connection and get audio. I played with the different settings trying to find what is causing the issue but no luck so far. I might give this or the Onkyo a try.

What differences did you find to make it a better experience than the TSR-700?

Thanks

I have this receiver and so far it has work without issue. I'm absolutely loving it. Calibration with Audyssey was easy. Only had to increase center channel and subwoofer by a few db. Handles everything without issue. The only hdmi output does not bother me as I only have need for 1 output. I recommend this to someone looking for a budget receiver

Bought one of these last week. So far so good. No issues that I've noticed. It's actually my first receiver. Running a 5.0 set up. Need to find a decent sub for it.
I recently bought the Klipsch R-112SW for $319 from Adorama [adorama.com]. It's pretty amazing and you won't find many cheaper that are comparable to it.

Hi all. I am reading through this thread and I am completely lost. What do you all use this for? I assume home theater based on what I've read. Looks like Technology has passed me by.
If anyone could help me out I would be grateful. I am simply looking for a home stereo in which I can connect my iPhone wirelessly, maybe a turntable, and crank some tunes. I don't need a home theater setup as my tv speakers are fine (I watch about 2hrs tv total per week and mostly sports). I just want to play my music loud and Bluetooth speakers just don't get there.
I don't mean to hijack this thread but it seems a good place to get real answers. The Slickdeals community is the best.
Basically is this unit good for what I need or is it overkill?
If you're not trying to Rock your house or invest in speakers, try edifier Bluetooth bookshelf speakers with built in amp. They sound great, get loud enough for a room and some have a port in back for record players/ mics.

I've got a ceiling speaker in each room and need to be able to drive each of those speakers. I want the occupants of each of those rooms to be able to play whatever music source they want (e.g., bedroom 1 plays Spotify, bedroom 2 plays YouTube, etc.) Can I use this or do I need a separate receiver for each room?

Does it have dedicated Zone2 output for 2 separate speakers than the primary Zone1 7.2 output?
I have this question also. I have a new home with 6 speaker zones. Like Heos ecosystem but harder than heck to find amps, Drive, or superlink, so i am going to try 3 receivers to cover the 6 zones.

You will need to purchase bunch of speakers and subwoofers to fully utilize this avr. I would recommend you to find a good soundbar for your use

Sweet. I didn't know these existed. Good price on Amazon and look like exactly what I need (well, actually want).

Can someone explain to me how Atmos works with this receiver? Can you actually setup 5.2.4 with 4 height speakers or does it only work with upfiring speakers?

This is a great receiver, I purchased it a couple months ago mostly to upgrade from a 5 or 6 year old Yamaha VSX1021K. I recently upgraded to a 65" C1 and PS5 and needed something that had HDMI 2.1. For the price this checked enough boxes (just wish it had 2 hdmi out)

Does anyone know which is the equivalent or similar mid level model on their other line, AVR-X?
What is the difference between this mid level vs the AVR-X mid level models?
I currently have the old 1910 model

Sorry... I keep seeing that the other one on sale at Costco has 2 HDMI out, and a couple of people have indicated they would like the 2 HMDI out instead of just one. What's the use case that you need 2 instead of one?
