Thanks for sharing OP. I picked up a couple of these this fall to replace some aging traditional (aka LOUD) window AC units. I won't install them til Spring next year so I can't provide any feedback, but I bought them because they are supposed to be very quiet.
I own this model and when they say it's quiet, it really is. I sometimes forget that it's even on. My experience with other traditional window ac units, they are about as loud as those tower fans on medium or high setting. This one is as loud as those tower fans on low or eco-low setting.
I paid $350 or so during the summer. If I had a need for more of these, I'd buy it this in a heartbeat.
Can anyone tell me if it's easy to get these airtight?
Not sure what your standards for airtightness are, but because of the U-shape, there is significantly less area to cover up if that can be helpful to your situation. It comes with foam strips and blocks that you can cut to size.
It is super quite! I bought one from HD higher than normal price in summer, then two used from Amazon later as you hardly can get normal price one in stock at the time. I bought additional 18x36 vinyl single hung window so I could use it on sliding window
Shame they didn't add the valving to have it work as a heat pump too.
No kidding. I basically live in my home office these days. No reason most days to heat/cool the whole house. Too cold here for heat pump in dead of winter but most of it would be fine vs. resistive space heater.
Great deal but I'm still waiting for the 10,000 BTU. I should've jumped on the sale that was month or 2 ago but I figured it would've been cheaper on BF...
