Yes it is gen 1.
Gen 2 is somewhat similar and costs $449
Gen 2 has support for Dolby Atmos and eARC. These are the only 2 major differences. Otherwise they look identical

Doesn't gen 2 actually do Atmos, or at least simulated Atmos?

FYI gen 2 sounds pretty much exactly like gen 1. I did a bunch of blind sound tests with my family and nobody could tell the difference.

Interesting! I'm mostly interested in the eARC for the ease of use. Have you found eARC to offer any better connectivity?

The ARC function doesn't always work properly and I've read eARC is more stable.

Right - It wasn't meant as a "this isn't worth it cause it's not gen 2" post. Just stating that fact for reference. I've been watching the costco site regularly for sonos discounts and it doesn't specify that it is gen 1 on the page.

I have noticed it still disconnects occasionally and switches to the tv speakers like the gen 1. Maybe a little bit less but hard to tell.

Well it was cheaper last year..now the gen 1 is an additional year older and costs more...I would say $400 for a gen 2 is a deal. Maybe $300 for gen 1

Sonos raised there prices across the board a few months ago. To meā€¦Sonos is so overpriced now that even a sale doesn't take it back to what they were last year.
