Here's how to avoid problems with these controllers on PC. Use only the official adapter. It's another $25 but well worth it. Bluetooth is only good for mobile etc and nearly completely worthless on PC

On windows hardware manager for the adapter make sure you disable the bizarre power saving checkbox that's on by default. And keep it updated with the accessories app
