I've had battery backups for over 25 years and most are APC. THIS unit is the only ones that I have bought for home and work locations where OVER 50% of them have failed within a year. If you are okay with those odds and chances they this is a fault decent price. But I wouldn't put another one of these in service where I needed it to work even if it were free. YMMV

Not sure what you mean by "non-standard size battery". It is a standard 5 amp-hour sealed lead-acid battery sold by Batteries Plus or Interstate or other retailers. I literally bought one this morning and replaced in my own unit. The battery was right around $30... so yes it's silly when the new UPS is the same price.

Also, to comment on the ability to replace the battery - even though there's not an easy access cover to replace the battery, it's literally as simple as removing 4 screws, pulling the battery, disconnecting the spade lug cables, putting them onto the new battery, and putting everything back together. Took 5 minutes.

You can replace the battery, but it is a pain. I think this is the video on youtube: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1zIuSiixyO8

I have not done this exact model, but i work in IT and have replaced batteries on a ton of different models and some were like this where you had to pretty much disassemble the entire unit.

May not be worth the savings.

Big minus is no user replaceable battery.

Too bad as I'm not getting free shipping now. So 9.95 extra kinda kills it...

Thanks anyway.

I've got one for my wifi router and modem. Can't say how long it would last fully draining the battery, but it has kept me up and with internet for short power outages. I'd recommend grabbing one if you are on the fence.

How much do replacement batteries for these kinds of units go for?

Do you have a recommendation in a unit with a replaceable battery?

I do not know. I have never replaced for that model and do not know what size it takes. I am sure it is listed somewhere on the internet, but could be hard to find since it is not technically "user replaceable".

In my experience you are better off buying them on a deal and tossing them. Replacement batteries cost more than the unit oftentimes.

Added symantic free trial to my cart (adds $0.01) to hit $30 for free shipping.

I replaced the battery on one. Sucks that the battery was like $5 less than the whole thing when I bought it. It was a pretty simple replacement procedure, nonetheless.

When its load is 10W, the BN450M has a runtime of around 214.6 minutes and can also run for 37 minutes when its load is 50W, 15 minutes when its load is 100W, 11 minutes when running a half load of 127.5W, 5 minutes when its load is 200W, and 3 minutes when it is running a full load of 255W.
