This man knows what's up. It's just like a tattoo soon as you get it, you're going to wish you got it bigger.

Am I crazy for buying this as my first aquarium?
Only in regards to probably spending more than most people on their 1st setup. As far as this being the 1st aquarium experience wise... It's much easier to maintain a larger aquarium then a smaller aquarium. Parameters take much longer to change and you won't need maintenance nearly as often as you would on say a 10 or 20 gallon. I used to have some larger tanks that I needed to give up when I moved a while back. I now have a 10 gallon that I got for my daughters bedroom and it is the biggest pain in the neck.

If cost & space is not a factor (everything from filters to heaters to substrate etc will cost more on a larger tank), then I would go with a larger aquarium to start with.

Maybe depending if you are ready to deal with that much water and the weight it has which wherever you place this on will have to handle.

Not crazy in terms of success rate, which is easier with bigger tanks. The bigger tanks are easier to manage because smaller tanks perimeters fluctuate way more and way easier to kill your stocks by accident, unless you know what you are doing.

I love your thinking and I want to sell my wife on this but I'm going to need more details on how this is easier to maintain than my current 16 gallon tank. I change the filter every month and spend 15 minutes Siphoning 60% of the water out every 4 - 6 weeks with our current tank. What will be different with the 75 gallon tank?

Edit: Found it. And 25% off code worked. Thanks!

I don't what type of fish you have as far as how "messy" they are or if you have certain plants or rocks that help balance water levels, regardless you should probably be doing water changes more than every 4-6 weeks on a 16 gallon. I guess you can look at it this way... If you are going 4-6 weeks without changing the water on a 16 gallon, you can go seven times that amount on a 120 gallon (all though I would do it more frequently than that). Filter changing varies on what type of filter you will be using. If you get one of those python types of syphons which attach to a sink, water changing is a breeze.

Nice job! I would have pulled the trigger at sub $200. I tried most codes on their site and none worked on the tank (I didn't try any other items)
