No it wasn't. It's been 15% off for a couple weeks and now it's 20%. I've been waiting for it drop to $100. Might have to bite now.

There wasn't a chip shortage or supply shortage last year…you have to include other market variables too, not just "it was lower price x year"… yeah graphics cards were $300 too…

I did the opposite because of the Amex promo, I had 4 nvme m.2 in my cart to choose from. I went with Samsung 970 because I've had good experience with the 1tb I own and I needed it to be shipped and sold by Amazon for the Amex promotion that's available in another thread. If you have a Amex card you should see if you're eligible.

I've had the 1tb since it came out. Great performer, few of these run as cool and use as little power for the same performance. IIRC its from using 96bit flash instead of 64? Something like that.

Anyhow, runs with the big boys without a heat sink, which keeps the cost down and makes this the best choice for laptops and small form factor systems.

I'd like a little advise on an upgrade scenario please. I'm purchasing a new Lenovo laptop ideapad_slim_7_pro and would like to upgrade it's SSD to one of these, preferably the 2TB. My concern is that the tech specs on the laptop states support for up to 1TB.

Has any one had any experience as to whether this is a hard limitation on the chipset addressing limit or Lenovo just doesn't certify/officially support over 1TB storage? Storage spec on the laptop is M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0x4 NVMe.

Yes I know they maker their own, what does that have to due with still not having chip shortage? Having to run at full capacity and still can't meet demand…Yes Inferior products compared to Hynix, especially with the swapping parts out due to shortages.

Hmm, this one or the XPG GAMMIX S50 Lite 2TB (Gen 4) for the same price at Amazon? I already have one of the XPG drives and probably would run them in some form of RAID, so getting the same drive is probably better?

You're point would make sense if both WD and Samsung haven't recently been caught swapping to cheaper, slower components for their drives.

It'll work... its likely they didn't test it so they didn't bother printing it. You can probably do 4tb if you need.

Crucial will see you a 2tb as compatible part so it will work.

I'm doing the same thing. Would be nice if Amazon did price matching, but this is worth a little bit of effort to return. The savings is over $28 for me after tax

I ordered the 2TB at $208. I used the "chat with representative" thing and immediately got a refund for the price difference. Worth a shot for those of you planning to rebuy & return.
