This is the original with an adjustable stand. The MK.2 version has a fixed angle, uses a detachable usb-c cable and has faceplate support, but it's not functionally different.
I own the 15 key & 32 key versions. Love them.

Yep, that's it - it's a customizable/programmable keyboard device. $100 for 15 keys.

An alternative is an Android tablet running an app like Touch Portal or Unified Remote. If you have an old tablet lying around you're not using much this is an alternative to do the same thing.

I use Touch Portal and it works very good plus I can use the same tablet for other things.

Touch Portal will do anything Stream Deck will do plus it doesn't have the limitations of the hardware keys - you can set up as many buttons in Touch Portal as you can fit on the screen. On my 10" tablet I have Touch Portal set up with an 8 wide x 7 grid of keys (1" x 5/8" sized keys) = 48 keys. And you can make as many different screens with different key configurations as you like. That capability alone makes it better than the Stream Deck.

Regardless of the marketing the Stream Deck's "tactile feedback" isn't important as you're not touch typing on a vertically angled device on a stand.

Micro Center also has it on sale for the same price, if you happen to have one near you.

I want one, but I have no idea what I'd use it for lol. I wish it had a tiny display so I could use it as media controls that would display the current track, next track, etc.

Any preference on one over the other given the features? Mk.2 looks nicer but looks like a fixed position

It is. I've been using one on my work computer for shortcuts for over a year now.

I'd probably save the $50 and get this. The upgrades are nice but not $50 nice.

You can. It'll display current album art, along with skip and back controls on three separate buttons. It's one of the built in integrations.

Amazing little device. I own 3 between work and home. Shortcuts are great, macros are great. But my favorite feature is you can stack commands. So say for example you use a specific program that doesn't have global shortcuts, you can setup a sequence that firsts brings that program to focus, and then executes the keyboard shortcut. All with a single press of a button. Pretty nifty.

I use this for gaming, specifically iRacing, as it performs the function of a button box to be programmed for such things as pit stop shortcuts, adjusting brake bias, traction control, lights and any number of other functions.
