The whole point is to have a single SSID then let these manage your connections automatically, bands and all.

Add me to this list of undecided. Although I am leaning to the X68 TP Link since I already own the Orbi RBK753S, and am having issues with a satellite randomly disconnecting and reconnecting throughout the day...it's actually my second unit to have this problem with the satellites. I returned the first set assuming it was bad and my problems would go away with a new unit. Unfortunately this was not the case.

Looking to get out of eero's subscription model but as per one review, this router (TP-Link Deco AX3600) also needs paid subscription for parental control, is it correct info or reviewer is talking about Virus protection or something?

I tried this , 5700 and orb 753.
If you have 2.4 GHz devices, tp link keeps dropping connection. My wyze cameras were constantly offline.
Orbi just works. Can't separate 2.4 & 5 GHz but so far no issues..

I'm pretty new to mesh setups but think I understand with a few questions and hoping someone can help me out...

I have a pretty solid wifi6 router/gateway combo from my cable provider. I also have a moca adapter that I use in the basement.

Here's is what I want to do... could I use my current cable gateway in one room as is and then take the "main" deco and connect it to the ethernet switch port of my coax connected moca device (ehternet bachaul) on the main deco in the basement?

Then if so could I place the remaining 2 deco devices using tri band wireless on a 3rd level and in another room closer to my backyard basically making 3 wifi extenders plus my gateway becoming a 4th? Hopefully that makes sense... in a nutshell instead of plugging the main deco into the router/gateway itself I want to plug it into my moca switch

You obviously aren't an IT person. Many devices are wonky when you mix 2.4 and 5. The only (dumb) solution is to split the networks and the the devices magically work. This is not the first, second, or third time I've heard of or had to do this to make some devices work. It's random what devices have this problem like a wifi printer, then this garage door opener, next might be one of your IOT devices.

Thanks for the insult because you disagree. I am a network manager for 6 offices around the world, so yes, I'm very familiar with how these work. Mesh networks need a common SSID for the seamless handoff. I've also successfully installed over a dozen of these Deco kits in homes, businesses and even a drive-in theater.

ok, without listing all of the networks I've cabled, the fact remains that the main issue is there are compatibility issues with 2.4+5ghz on the same SSID on some devices which is why it's pretty common to split the networks apart.

I am a computer networking noob..I have att fiber internet installed in garage but it doesn't give me speed in my backyard.

How easy is this to set up and use for future? Is it set and forget?

The parental control is a paid sub add-on.

When we used to run Deco M5 only, its app included the parental control for free. Not so unfortunately with X68 (this model) and any newer TP-Link mesh systems.
