You think that will be better than the Boeing BF sale?

VMware workstation pro is like the red headed stepchild. Over time it has lost features instead of gaining them. It needs some love from the VMware devs..

if you gonna go that route, you might as well just generate your own keys.

Is this a joke? VMWare software on BF? We get these free at work
Just cause you personally don't pay for them doesn't make them free...

I heard they laid off most of the US developers from the Workstation project and moved all development to a team in India, so I wouldn't expect threat things in the future.

With so many free to use personal licenses for other VM software, it's almost not worth the trouble someone would go to to get a key.
Great deal if you're a business user, I guess.

If you want to do virtualization at home or even work for free, there are many option there - xcp-ng (free open source Xenserver alternative befor Citrix got greedy) is an awesome choice and works rock solid, or KVM or virtualbox or Proxmox
If it's for work, then your work already has something in place

Jokes aside, our IT is actually transitioning away from Oracle. To be honest, it is kind absurd that you need a specialist just to figure out what license you need.
