Also, my tablets etc aren't great to have while cooking or working in the garage. I'd rather ruin paper.

That seems like an oxymoron. Probably a not-so-subtle way of saying, "Something for her, something for him." Ridiculous.

I've been subscribing to it for years (free from RecycleBank), and it has some good articles, and I've picked up some really good recipes. To each their own.

I have... by all accounts... an excessive number of guns (designs ranging from the 1800s to a ton of modern plastic pistols and pushing 2doz ARs). I don't even pretend that my collection isn't getting ridiculous, and I keep buying another 5-10/yr. but I also like growing my own fruits and vegetables, keeping my yard in shape, light landscaping, etc.
I moved to a new climate zone after the growing season of '19 and i'm having to relearn everything i knew in my old climate zone. total shift in bugs and other pests, total new ways of dealing with problems. Less pellet rifle for squirrels (graduated to suppressed .22 out here in the country, because i never would have done that back in the city. nope. not me.), more traps for moles, more fencing to stop the hordes of deer and rabbits because my mrs likes to watch them eat in the clover patches.
get out of the city. buy some acres. get over yourself. some people have more than one hobby.
In other news, people at work always talk about me being cheap, bringing a lunch instead of buying, drinking free cheap work coffee instead of bringing in starbucks every day. Yup. I always take them through the math of how many thousands of dollars a year I save that way.
I'm certainly cheap when i can be (i belong here on SD) because i save a ton of money where i can to waste it where i like (guns, garden, games).
