Blue Iris 5 NVR software on sale for $49.49 = $54.99 - 10% [amcrest.com] ($20 off the original $69.99 price if buying direct from BlueIrisSoftware). Digital license delivery.
Use code HOLIDAY10 for the 10% off (thanks mrgino)
If you have a spare PC or will build one, drop Windows onto it, and run this software.
- It will be compatible with major brands' IP PoE cameras (via ONVIF compatability, which major brands all support, aka Amcrest, Dahua, Hikvision, Axis, Reolink, etc)
- Connect all cameras' Cat5e/6 cables to a PoE Switch, and connect that switch to your local network via one cable.
- And your Blue Iris software detects them on the network.
Product information here [blueirissoftware.com], including the direct BI 5 download link (then you apply the license).
Is this for me, you might ask?
This is for DIY folks.
Alternately, you would buy a bundle deal with a specific brand's NVR (recorder) and cameras. But you are locked into that brand's cameras if you upgrade, you're forced into their UI, and you don't get the same feature-rich set that Blue Iris provides for more customizable motion detection and avoiding false alerts.
Last year's sale was cheaper by $5. Inflation.

edited to add mrgino's code.

Also does it come with the mobile App or do we need to buy this separate?

The app is a separate purchase.

I ran this software for 3 years with 6x 4K POE cams. I was very happy with the performance. But, ultimately, it took a long long time to configure just-so and when one of my cables failed (thanks squirrels), I ended up replacing with a consumer (Eufy 2 Pro) cam.
Edit: I just updated to the latest version and VPN is working fine now. Version 5.5.3.4. I did not notice any new Reolink cameras added to config.

I've seen people using reolinks, like yours, but the optical zoom variants have given them issues. I saw one person say the 811a works as long as they used Generic / ONVIF or RTSP in the config (iirc). To buy and play with it (and possibly use Amazon's return policy) or to just stick with a non-zoom Amcrest like the rest... hmm...

However, I opted to use Eufy's app and move away from BI. It's good aside from the ads. That said, I find the Ring cameras, although much worse camera quality, much better at detecting and filtering out false positives in motion. The Eufy gets many events just from wind, for example. Eufy seems to have the best wireless camera on the market though for camera quality/resolution and battery life, but lags behind in the motion detection space.
As noted above, for BI - after a year, you have to pay another $60 to access support/upgrades, which, if I'm providing the hardware and infrastructure and equipment, was a bit rich for what I was getting given I just wanted motion alerts essentially. Others find it an extreme value compared to other powerful NVR software on the market - which I can see and agree with. But only if it's your hardcore hobby.
