Blue Iris 5 NVR software on sale for $49.49 = $54.99 - 10% [amcrest.com] ($20 off the original $69.99 price if buying direct from BlueIrisSoftware). Digital license delivery.
Use code HOLIDAY10 for the 10% off (thanks mrgino)
If you have a spare PC or will build one, drop Windows onto it, and run this software.
- It will be compatible with major brands' IP PoE cameras (via ONVIF compatability, which major brands all support, aka Amcrest, Dahua, Hikvision, Axis, Reolink, etc)
- Connect all cameras' Cat5e/6 cables to a PoE Switch, and connect that switch to your local network via one cable.
- And your Blue Iris software detects them on the network.
Product information here [blueirissoftware.com], including the direct BI 5 download link (then you apply the license).
Is this for me, you might ask?
This is for DIY folks.
Alternately, you would buy a bundle deal with a specific brand's NVR (recorder) and cameras. But you are locked into that brand's cameras if you upgrade, you're forced into their UI, and you don't get the same feature-rich set that Blue Iris provides for more customizable motion detection and avoiding false alerts.
Last year's sale was cheaper by $5. Inflation.
edited to add mrgino's code.

Other than this one time fee, what subscription fees are there for blue iris?
Oh ok, thanks
For actual figures. I just renewed mine for $29.95

I am thinking about moving away from Synology. What triggered you?
But, it is by far the cheapest half decent NVR software you can get.
However,
Have none of you ever heard of Milestone?
Business grade NVR software, with free licensing for up to 8 cams, and it beats BlueIris on performance any day of the week(BI is/was very CPU intensive). Their mobile app is outstanding too.

Milestone Xprotect Essential + camera compatibility page does not list Amcrest or Reolink? https://www.milestonesy
If so, use that.
I have HIKVision cams-work fine (and sorry, but I set this up so long ago that I don't even remember 1/2 the things).
