Lots of people use floor speakers as surrounds. Usually with matching sets up front. With this package, using those bookshelves as fronts with the floors in the back would sound awful. You'd have to upgrade the bookshelves to the RP-500M or RP-600M to compete with the floors. IMHO.

There is no "1 size fit all" kind rule for speaker placement. It's very subjective to your room dimensions, Sitting position and streaming type (music vs movies).

Generally, people suggest to have same front and rear surround but also if you are in smaller room, you don't want to sit too close to towers and use it at only 20% of its capabilities.

To me it took over a year to get the setup right. I prefer to buy speakers with free returns.

probably a dumb question. Can any of these be put in the walls? How do you know if they can go in the walls or not? I put a klipsch bundle i got on amazon in the walls and they came with the grills and everything, but i didnt know if certain ones can go in walls and some cant. thanks.

No, you need in wall speakers to install in the wall. These are big floor speakers

I have these and Im real happy with the tsr700. I tried the Denon 760h, Onkyo nr595, and sony dh790. Onkyo was probably my second pick of the bunch.
