Wow, what a deal!

I've been hemming and hawing whether to get the Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus, the Lenovo 10e or the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite 4gb version.

The only thing that originally stopped me with the Lenovo 10e was the terribly bad speakers. But at this price point, I'll deal with it. I have plenty of other devices around the house (including other PCs, tablets, phones and bluetooth speakers) if I wish to play something at a loud volume.

Here is my brief analysis should this help anyone in the same boat.

* The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is 8.4" and arguably is easier to handle than the 10" Fire HD 10 and Lenovo 10e. But the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite uses a crappy 1340x800 resolution with poor viewing angles. Buyer beware that the A7 Lite does have a 3GB RAM variant as well.

* Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus (the 4GB RAM variant) was really, really tempting especially considering one can use Fire Toolbox to remove the ads & bloatware, sideload Google Play Store, and sideload a custom launcher.

* BUT Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus uses Android 9 as the underlying OS (already out of date considering Android 12 just came out). Not to mention Amazon is releasing a new (currently optional) OS update to version 7.3.3.2 that prevents Fire Toolbox from being able to do its thing. Not sure how I feel about being forever stuck on a previous version of an already outdated OS.

* I've read that the Lenovo 10e's ChromeOS is a bit hit-or-miss compared to Android (especially with app compatibility) but we shall see. I don't really do much on my current tablets besides catching up on news, perusing Reddit & Slickdeals and occasionally watching a show or TV on it.

As much as a good deal it is, id rather go with the Amazon Fire HD Plus, just based on the added storage option, especially with the firebox tool to 'unlock' it.

not just for kids but adults. This is more than capable for Adults. I am tempted to open the 10e that was delivered today. Must resist because I will return it for the $79.
Check return policy. If you have to pay return shipping, you will just break even.

I'd rather get one without all the Amazon Junk, ads, and weird UI. And I still run into minor issues all the time on mine with Google services and apps, because they are shoehorned to an OS that doesn't want them.
These tablets are made for specific users in mind, base media consumption and light browsing… anything more you have to fork up money for those extra conveniences and functionality. These are barebone and budget tablets. Have to be reasonable for a sub < $150 tablets, this ain't no Galaxy s or iPad.

This is $300 education Chromebook tablet that they are blowing out. NOT a sub $150 tablet. I have on on my desk now, it's not what I would buy for $300, but it is amazing for $80. I have had iPads from the iPad one, Fire, and android tablets. This is a good device and will be what I take to access work apps when I'm on vacation.

Thanks! Do you happen to know if this can be done on a Chromebook (instead of a Windows machine)?
The Fire Toolbox software is only for Amazon tablets (which are not Windows machines). Not for Chrome either.

No luck. They will only price match off their site directly. Since ebay is not their site (even though the seller is Lenovo) the price match would get rejected. Therefore, I am going to repurchase off ebay and then return the ones bought from the Lenovo site. Bummer.
I ordered yesterday on the Lenovo Site and contacted support thru chat. The representative assisting me was able to issue a $20 credit, matching the price on Ebay. They told me the credit would appear in 7 to 10 days. He stated: "I was able to check the order, and I am submitting the price match for the order, as it was validated on our end for the lower price.

Dang you got lucky. I'll chalk it up to bad luck on my end.

Try again if you have time. They seem to know about the ebay deal. The chat took about 5 minutes. Be ready with your order number. Good luck!

$20 credit for future purchase or $20 off your tablet purchase?

Oh no worries... The rep I chatted with this morning made it sound like if they attempted to do a price match request it would get canceled. I already placed the order through eBay and we'll just return the ones I bought directly from Lenovo.

Not sure how that is any argument to what I said. Amazon's UI and bloat get in the way, and the play store "hack" is not problem free. I have a fire tablet (with play store installed) and a chromebook myself. I'd take the chrome tablet over Amazon's UI and ads any day.

Agree. FireOS is the worse heavily ads android OS with non Fire app work properly. Very familiar with Fire Toolbox but I won't recommend to buy any Fire. Pay extra to get a clean tablet.
