Honestly, I wouldn't exactly take Wirecutter as a good source anymore. Since they were bought out by the New York times, they made a habit of recommending products based on what one could only guess is compensation, due to the plethora of better products on the market. For example, Satechi and one or two others have products that beat out Anker. They haven't even bothered looking at a lot of them.

Then there's the air fryers. They didn't even recommend an air fryer, they recommended a toaster oven, which cannot do what an air fryer does. People got pissed and they had to apologize, but didn't change it.

They're almost certainly on the take, and even if that's not the case, their top products are no better than any other site that does an incomplete job at this point.
They didnt pay off the right people
Man, I wish this was a joke. It isn't though.

Why is that brand banned from being mentioned here?

I see their top pick as an Anker model. Their #2 which is named similar to a Toyota SUV got banned from Amazon for manipulating votes. Their top pick for laptop charger is urlhasbeenblocked which is a generic reseller of USB-IF chargers.

Yeah they were also giving out gift cards for good reviews. I still use some of their stuff and it is great. My buddy got $60 in Amazon gift cards from them so I know it's legit
