For the 2020 version, on 1/13/2021, I paid $17.99 for the Deluxe Federal + State on Newegg.

In my experience, there has always been a better sale in mid-January than around the BF.

they want you do pay for extra states in app. They are like $30/state. There is a way to just buy 2 versions and download each state that way. Google it. I have 3 states to do, and usually just buy 3 versions

It's $39 for an extra state. I've tried buying two copies before and it was enough of a pain in the butt to make me just eat the $17 difference this year to do it all in one app.

You can search for the version you need all of them are available. If you need to use it on a mac just order the key version. It requires shipping but shipping is free in California

Another user said that the process that works for him/her was that you do the federal and do not download the state. Then you open the save H&R tax file on another machine and then do states on the 2 machines is what works.


Obviously you'll need to make amendments in 2 places but hopefully its not a full on redo on things.

The Fed e-filing (up to 5 files) is included in the price. The State e-filing costs $19.95 on top of the price of the software.
