I just sold mine. Runs macOS and Windows 10/11 (with TPM check bypass) but won't run Linux without severe hassle and won't run it on the internal SSD, must use an external drive for Linux. I was never able to get that to work though.

This is an old machine with an I3 for that price? The M1 Mini can be had for 599 and will be a much better machine.

Good price if you don't mind the limitations and likely limited lifespan given the switch to ARM. Might make a decent Plex server on MacOS now and Linux later — the UHD 630 can handle something like 4-5 4K transcodes simultaneously, though HDR to SDR tonemapping remains a challenge for Plex.

You're technically correct. The last generation intel mac mini's were released in 2018 and there was a refresh in early 2020 where the only change made was to move the base model i3 storage from 128GB to 256GB.

Have to agree, better to spend more for the M1 version- unless you are looking at dual boot with windows or other application for this.

The intel macs are ok and these are compatible with Radeon eGPU. However I would definitely grab on an M1 Mac unless you have an application that needs intel. The performance difference is incredible.

Agree I wouldn't buy an iMac or an iPad Pro w/o the M1 chip right now.

Yeah, I keep waiting for some big improvements to VMware to boot up x86 kali well. Doesn't look like it's going to happen.

That being said, I can't imagine recommending this just because historically people buy Mac to get great long term support. That may not happen as well with x86 macs.
