Paypal: Get $3 off your next $5 purchase or reload at Starbucks when you check out using PayPal. It's the convenient, touch-free, and secure way to pay.

And it looks like it worked.

$20 gift card = $17 CC (via PayPal) + $3 PayPal
FYI - Make sure you enter the custom amount of $20 and purchase. There is no indication at checkout regarding the $5 egift card. But both get delivered within minutes.
Yes, you can send it to yourself and get the $5 bonus

I did the Sbux chat today on my account and partners. My account was shorter amount of wait time, I did a copy and paste of what they had promoted which was live at the time of my purchase. The rep. put $5.00 into my account immediately. Next chat for my partners - took longer than 1st chat but rep. offered $7.00 for the inconvenience. You have to think Sbux has been inundated with disgruntled people over their offer. As far as the PayPal $3.00 - I didn't get that. I made a phone call to Sbux before chat and wait time was long so I moved onto chat.

below is what I pasted into chat box to get things rolling:

"Starbucks Black Friday Offer: $20 Starbucks eGift Card + $5 Bonus Value $20
I purchased $20.00 gift card that was offering $5.00 extra. I received the $20 and not the $5. According to Starbucks website the offer was LIVE at the time of purchase."

Did anyone have more than one order go through? I had 3 orders go through and only one $5 card. The recipient redeemed all 3 so I can't refund the other 2 orders. Just annoyed because the error was on their end

An aside, but they still have this offer for 4500 stars if you apply and are approved for their CC. What the hell do people do with that many stars? I've had times where I had over 1000 stars, between our 3 accounts, but mostly used them for food, coffee, pastries and the occasional travel mug. But that was back when lunch or breakfast items were 125 stars. Now they're 200 which doesn't seem worth it, especially with their recently reduced lunch selection, which was never all that great to begin with, and we have all the mugs, water bottles and other branded items we'll ever need.

Update!

So I got a $20 card with $5 bonus for $17. The order didn't go through, I clicked again and ended up paying twice ($20 for the second $20 card, no bonus). I decided to keep it and not go through the hassle of a return- whatever. Moved the $45 in gift cards to my Starbucks app.

Today Starbucks issued a $20 refund. I did not refute the charge or ask for this at all!

I purchased $20.00 gift card that was offering $5.00 extra. I received the $20 and not the $5. According to Starbucks website the offer was LIVE at the time of purchase."
So I have contacted Starbucks chat support twice now, their phone support once (1-800-782-7282) and have gotten no where. I've literally wasted hours of my time on $5. The response I have gotten has been different every time: 1st time, I was told I didn't get the promo in time, even though I insisted and provided a screenshot with time/date stamp of order and the offer being promoted. 2nd time I was told I needed to call Starbucks and chat support couldn't help. 3rd time (over phone) I was told it was a mistake by CashStar the company that issues the gift cards, so I got transferred to them and they were baffled, and said they had nothing to do with this.

Today I've contacted chat support one last time, with the linked story I found from another poster (https://www.inc.com/jason-aten/st...r-do.html) and expressed my frustration. After listening to me rant, they gave me the strangest response yet: they told me to contact Chase and gave me this phone number 877-242-7372. When I asked "are you suggesting I contact my bank, in order to file a dispute over this issue?" they responded "no, Chase is the bank involved and they will be the only ones who can help you with this." I called the phone number, and it's the generic phone support line for debit cards. They are running us consumers in circles here and losing customers. This is infuriating, from a company that typically has great customer support!
