Having issues right now with HP's restocking fee. Laptops arrived damaged (or defective from production - hard to say) but I would note that they didn't ship the laptop boxes in any outer boxes which meant being tossed around in shipping could really abuse them. So, for sending me non-working units, HP is trying to charge me a fee.
That Optane option gives you Intel H10 SSD which is essentially a lower edn DRM Less QLC SSD Intel 660p with 32GB Optane Cache built-in and it performs worse than the normal TLC SSD it comes with.
Best 3070 deal since the L5P 3070,

Keep in mind that scummy HP charges restocking fee and shipping is in the air, they're most known for pushing back units. With that being said, price is incredible

This unit has some metal construction and superb thermals, maximum performance

When did you order urs? keep me posted if they do charge you for restock for such blacklight bleedings.
I ordered mine on Oct 30th. After many chats with the reps, received an email that I could return the laptop for a replacement (must wait again for the factory to custom build it). Still waiting for confirmation and RMA.

I got the laptop and man, you can notice backlight bleeding on dark backgrounds even in well lit areas. I have never experienced such pronounced bleeding. It is such a shame but I am considering returning or getting an exchange. Hope they do not charge a restocking fee.
I picked up mine from FedEx location on the 9th as well and yes, a very uneven screen when displaying pure black. The left edge is worst but top and bottom edge also bleed. The build quality is nice but the bloatware, poor screen and trackpad (and that stupid keyboard layout) really puts this laptop below Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

This is bad, man. I was hoping I just got a bad screen. I really like the 17" QHD display, and I know high refresh displays have some kind of bleed, but they should only be noticeable in dark rooms at high brightness.

I am really considering just asking for a refund and get a Lenovo /sign

Well, if that's the way you decide to go: good luck. HP is notorious for making it unreasonably difficult to cancel custom orders. Plus, they threaten to charge 15% restocking fees on returned custom configs.

They'll usually do it - eventually - but it will require persistence on your part. I just went through this with them on a different Omen config, and it took multiple calls/chats/escalations. Just stay on top of them, and you should be able to wear them down and have the order canceled. Godspeed

Thank you for the heads up. Worst case scenario, I keep the laptop or get a replacement, hopefully. I read bleed could be caused by tight bezels squishing the display and should loosen with time and usage, thus diminish the bleed. To see if that is my case, I tried to wiggle the bezels a bit, and the bleed got noticeably better. So there is that at least.

got mine today, original ship date was dec 9th fyi. i contacted hp a few times (not fun, they are getting hammered on the phone lines so i just emailed support.) I was able to get them to add another 3 years of free warranty on the laptop for the 4+ shipment delays. so that was worth it imo...

however, if you were hoping to pay for this laptop by mining on it, some bad news. it has hynix memory, worst manufacturer for mining. max i have been able to get now is 58mh, which is pretty weak considering people with micron or samsung memory get 64-67mh.

might be returning this, paid a premium for this because of its superior cooling but doesn't matter if its at the cost of 15%+ performance
