why do people really think a $16 lifetime VPN deal is legit?

don't touch anything related to banking / finances, crypto and anything sensitive requiring a password and you will be good to go.

They will be MiTM / mining traffic data, along with your personal information... Ad injections seem also very likely, as they strive to cover bandwidth costs.

You have to be a very special kind of fool to trust some random password manager ("PassHulk" ) with your passwords, also.... https://bitwarden.com/ if you need something legit.

If anyone is wondering, I have used the following services with FastestVPN:

1) Netflix US
2) Netflix UK
3) HBO Max
4) Disney Plus
5) Hulu

I've used Hulu on my Fire TV stick on my TV. FastestVPN has an app for Fire TV.
You get lifetime vpn. But the other 2 options are given for 1 yr only. They aren't for lifetime.

I cancelled and initiated a refund.
Can anyone tell me the name that appears on your credit card statement?
I want to verify if the refund is processed and am unable to find the transaction.
Be careful!!! I've been trying to get a refund for more than a month but they don't do it. They just say we forwarded the case to their billing department. I've been getting the same answers from different customer supports. I think they wait until you forget about it.

I've been using this VPN pretty happily for a while, but today I received an email talking about a PRO version of this VPN, touting 15 users, 100 locations, and "Fast speed Servers", whereas the Basic Plan is 10 Users, 50 Locations, and "Medium speed Servers". Other differences include lack of split tunneling, smart reconnect, and auto reconnect, as well as a host of streaming servers no longer being available in the Basic Plan.

I also noticed today that the VPN quality has taken a nosedive, where the connection takes a while to establish and the performance is worse than before.

This feels like bait and switch given the "lifetime" deal and subsequent service degradation.

I signed up for the Pro version myself in December. I quickly found out that the Pro version was indeed faster with a lot more servers. The downside is that the servers are only accessible when you use their app. They currently do not have Pro versions of their *.ovpn, OpenVPN, files. I cancelled the Pro service. Got my $2 refund and went back to the standard lifetime level. It is still working at the same speeds as before. If and when they offer their Pro level that works with OpenVPN, I'll sign up for it.

You may want to do a CS chat to see what is going on. I've found them to be very responsive when needed and with minimal effort.

not an endorsement, just an observation;

they had a weekend long outage 3 weeks ago...
you could login and outlet clamp
but none of their outlets would route your traffic.
(there is no server status page on their websight)
i'm on a forum with other f-vpn subs - we all were
suffering the same problems at the same time.

after qq'ing and writing tech support with no reply
they finally fixed things - i have noticed 2 things;
- outlets don't drop as often, and do route traffic better
- it's now easier to stop their service and restart it again.
sadly, their client still lacks any app kill provision
all it can do is drop all traffic when the vpn dies.

conclusion; with F-vpn, you get what you paid for.

pro tip; if an outlet won't route torrent traffic
try another. sadly f-vpn is too lazy to label
their outlets as p2p allowed or not, so you
have to hit or miss till you find them.
surprisingly, none of their CA outlets p2p
so you have to connect to europe for it.

i can't speak to your situation, but in general you should;
- always enable the client to disconnect all ISP when the VPN drops
- never use any of your ISP's DNS servers on your client or router.
- if possible, manage your non ISP choice of DNS within the router.

I noticed my primary DNS got changed somehow, not sure what did it
(i use paid malwarebytes and all sorts of protect and privacy extensions)
so i added a service that locks the DNS to what you specify on your client
so no other app or client can later modify it.

the one i use on my win10 pc calls itself DNS-Lock v1.4 as a process
which manages Dnscache as a service. i lock my client DNS to router
192.168.1.1 and manage my DNS choices within the router itself.

Strange, all US servers I tried allowed P2P. But no incoming connections, of course.

DNS leaks and no kill switch it seems. These are the most critical items to get right!

I've been using Eddie VPN client, configured for FastestVPN. Seems robust, and does what's expected. Search on this thread, I have posted the Eddie VPN instructions before.

Been using it on and off for about two months. Most overseas servers are slow. It's fine as a backup or for mobile streaming. Definitely not suitable as the main connectivity tool.

I'm in Illinois where online sports betting is legal but it did not work on my work VPN in Wisconsin. The sports betting sites are accessible from anywhere but when you go to place a bet it has to verify your location.
Might want to confirm your job security would even allow you to download a VPN on their computer first. I know my work laptop would block anything from being installed especially a VPN.

I am sure Hulu doesn't work with FastestVPN, Netflix US server is slow, only one. Not sure about other streaming services because I don't have those.

Most of those servers are below 35mbps speeds, 20 mbps, or slower. Only few with restrictions are slight faster below 70mbps.

Doesn't work - leaks your IP. Had to use a different VPN to redeem Argentina codes.

OK. Maybe people using it for streaming videos with internet company noticing? You went all out there. This is a beautiful deal. I bought it a couple years ago. I'm not trying to run a business off of it. Just basic use.
