I just read all the reviews on costco.com. Seems like they get 0.8 - 1 mile based on testing so I think you should be fine on a cruise ship.

35 miles is a hilarious joke. I don't know why Motorola even claims that

Went ahead and picked these up for the kids. I know I had some cheapy ones when I was a kid and they were a blast on outdoor adventures.

The other ones that get posted I think they are like T200 say they get 25 miles. I assume those are worse than these, correct?

It's 25 miles in the middle of the desert with no obstruction. Literally no cell phone competition, no other waves, and a straight path in perfect weather. Not realistic!

Costco is not shipping the incorrect radio, they are actually shipping a upgraded radio that in an upgrade from the T470 to the T472 which includes a drop in charger as a bonus vs just the wall charger.
