Can this be used with the RT2600AC to create a mesh network?

We have a RT2600AC towards the front of the house, the rear deck area doesn't get very good signal. Those range extenders are all garbage and we were hoping for a better solution, but don't want to ditch the RT2600AC b/c it's a great router

Yes.

That's what I've done. I had a little trouble with the firmware but got it eventually. That was over a year ago so maybe fine now.

I use the 2600 as a router and put my 3 eero setup into bridge mode for wifi aps, disabled internal wifi on the 2600. Works flawlessly.

but yes you can use it to create a mesh wifi between the Synology devices, I just personally haven't done it to know if there are any hiccups with the process.
