Honestly she might also just prefer paper and pencil. I do a lot of digital art and have used graphics tablets, screen tablets, iPad, etc. but for drawing I still prefer paper and pen/pencil. It's nice to get away from screens and just draw sometimes.

My daughter who just turned 12 loves to draw. I purchased a low end 30 dollar one on Amazon to test the water but she doesn't use it. Still draws on her regular art pad. Can anyone recommend a large screen one or should I just take the plunge and get this for her

Depends on how much you want to spend and how much she draws. My daughter also draws and goes back and forth between a Cintiq 16 (tethered to computer) and an IPad Pro with an Apple Pencil using photoshop and procreate.
