After owning one for a few years, he has a real point. The amount of time it takes to place the quick jacks, one can have a car on 2 or 4 jack stands.
All depends on why you need to lift the car. If it is only wheel/brake/suspension work, jack and stands are a quicker solution.
Quickjack wins if you need to get under the engine/trans/rear end and need the extra height or if you intend to lift the car several times.
I've used it a handful of times and have stopped using it. Can't say I regret buying it but would not buy again.
Also, just wait and get a real lift.
I have almost bought one of these a few times, but each time I thankfully talk myself out of it. just hold off and buy an actual lift. Sure it will be 4x the price, but it will be 10x better in every way.
like everything else here.. this will be usefull for some and worthless to others.. I just bought these about month ago and couldn't be happier, unless i had the extra 3", but that goes for everyone.
As a hobbyist I will lift and drop my car 20x a year, please work on my kids cars. I did jacks and jackstands forever and won't go back. I dont bother hanging them. They lay near flat, so I just leave them under my car, unhooked and just pull the lines when I need them.
I'm always tempted to do my own work due to the time aspect. Too many 3 hour oil changes with an appointment at the dealer.
Indie shops just want you to leave the car all day for anything and keep banker's hours (don't blame them).
Oil change, 30 min (make it an hour to include time to pick up the filter and oil, then drop off the old stuff) and for me $45. I'll never pay someone else to do by oil.
Have to say I love mine but I have an El Camino in my shed that I'm rebuilding. It's nice to do brake jobs , roll around under there and make an exhaust from pieces.
Detailing is easier and faster.
It's not for everyone, but I like mine.
Besides all the obvious reasons, there are really great for corrective detailing. It helps brining the car up so you can sit and wheel around at eye level.
