Poor Michael at Compass Coffee going to get back in the office to cancel 25,000 orders of a Burr Coffee Grinder. Sweating profusely having to hear from 2,000 Karens who believe he should honor a price error even though it would put his small business bankrupt.
I'll devote my next cup of coffee to him for the hard work he is about to do on a simple website mistake.
These are the times that make me want to leave Slickdeals.
This code was obviously not supposed to get out. It was probably intended for a few people who were instructed to use it on an item or two as some sort of a gift, possibly as a charitable type thing.
A small business can't just front a loss like this, especially to a group who isn't going to want to pay full price for anything they have, much less for an extended period of time where they could actually (eventually) break even.
This isn't Target or Amazon. I would really encourage you to not get upset when your order is cancelled and instead to have some compassion for this owner who now has to spend hours and hours trying to remedy an honest mis-take while having people berating him via email and otherwise (as I see some of you are ALREADY ready to do).
Wow, I wonder why some orders were filled, and others not?
Did those who weren't cancelled get in very early after this was posted? I recall I did too (still had an alert that I hadn't deleted yet after buying the other deal a day or two earlier) -- but maybe not as early as others. Just curious.
Tracking shows mine arriving today. My order confirmation email arrived at 11:32 am ET on Saturday, Nov. 27. If that helps to figure out why some were filled. Lucky me!

Did you actually get it? My order was 24min later than yours, hence was cancelled.

I did actually receive it, yes. Maybe they just ended up shipping what they had in stock on a first come, first served basis? Or shipped to those close to DC?
Opened my door to discover an unexpected package on my doorstep. It was from Compass Coffee: the Baratza Encore. What makes this package so unexpected is that Compass Coffee refunded my purchase two days after I made it. At the time I just shrugged, figuring, as other comments on this page suggested, that the discount was probably an error. But I got it anyway. 🤔

Yeah, you did get in earlier than me, my confirmation was 11:50am ET. You must have gotten in only minutes after the OP posted the deal here -- that was timestamped 11:10am.

My order was confirmed 11:42am ET then later cancelled. Maybe we are closing in on the cut off time for those whose orders went through . . . although there is one post so far in the past day or so from someone whose order was cancelled, they received their refund, and then an Encore showed up at their front door.
Got a confirmation at 12:18am ET (I don't know when I ordered), charged (still charged), shipping update (on backorder / delay, but not cancelled), and nothing since.
I imagine they may have prioritized local customers as well as time-based since I'm in the DC area. No more data to the geo-priority than a hunch, but still, it is likely a parameter that they considered.

Could be. Local customers would be more likely to walk in and buy beans from them too. I'm only 40 miles north of there and was cancelled and refunded.

Got my shipment confirmation just now, but I'm from the west coast... I did order some coffee with it though. Looking forward to giving it a try.
