I saw a Echelon Connect EX - 4s+ at my local Costco today. The 4s+ is different then the normal 4s model they carry online (attached link). The 4s+ has a 15.6" tablet attached vs the 10". The 4s+ only has a 30 day trial membership vs a 12 month membership. The 4s+ has adjustable handle bars (front to back) as the 4s doesn't. Both are discounted $300.

One correction,
online EX-4S $1099 - $300 = $799
local EX-4S+ $999 - $200 = $799

I do not know what is going on but the price tag in my local Costco showed on 11/24
Item# 2622002 with 1 year unlimited membership
the box says 30 days trial membership

I bought the 4S from Costco last December. It is a great value esp at this price, and our family has used it a lot over the year.

I am now coming up to the 1 yr anniversary of my "free app use" so will need some Slickdealer pointers on what is the best way to get some usage from the bike while avoiding a $40/month subscription, so if anyone knows please advise, thanks

Thanks. Picked one up today. Now just need to figure out how to get other apps installed on it. Hopefully it is a similar process to the other echelon bikes.

Less than an hour taking your time. They come mainly assembled.

Is it really $40 a month after first year?? That's steep ...

It's very popular for people to use Echelon bikes with Peloton app for $13/month plus a second device with the free ride feature from Echelon app to get your stats (cadence power and resistance) . They use Peloton just for the classes basically, because without a Peloton bike you cannot sync the bike data with the app thus you cannot do anything else with the app such as participating their leaderboards. It's also common for people to grab qdomyos-zwift app for 3 bucks to basically grab the bike data and transfer it to another app on another device as if it is a sensor so you can use it with other apps such as Zwift or even with Peloton app. You can read more here: https://robertoviola.cloud/qdomyos-zwift-guide/

For the record, Peloton subscription also cost 39 bucks if you are using a Peloton bike for the entire "integrated experience", Echelon is literally copy and pasting the same homework. It's just that Echelon app and their classes also seem to be not as good compared to Peloton, hence the "Peloton hack"

Not sure how well that's gonna work for this bike because this bike default has a screen. Maybe there is a way you can jailbreak it to load something else, or use the screen for the free ride and get the biometric data from there while you use a phone for classes/tours etc. But setup like that works pretty well for people going for the Echelon Connect Sport / Echelon Ex-15 which are the basic model they sell on Walmart / Amazon that comes with no screen and has a mechanical instead of a digital resistance knob.

I tried this in costco when there was a sales person. The handle bar adjuster knob allows handle bar to wobble, not solid at all. Imo it's one of those fitness items sold to people who know nothing about exercise and just buy it and collect dust. Use a good spin bike from gym and echelon is a joke. Its just a branded alibaba bike. A pinto is not a cheaper BMW. It's just marketing talk

@PurpleStove2383 posted a fantastic post w/instructions and tips in the other Walmart Echelon forum:

The tag at my store dated 11/30 (valid till 12/6) shows the EX-4S+ at $799 but there is no mention of a 1 year membership. The box says 30 days, but that seems way too low, especially given that Costco sells the EX-4S delivered AND assembled with a 1 year membership bfor the same price. Even Walmart's Echelon deal comes with 3 months if the membership.

Anyone have a concrete answer?

Just so everyone is aware, I spoke with a rep from Echelon that said they have a promo with Costco where all bikes/rowers, etc bought through Costco receive a full year trial. He assured me that it would work even though the box states 30 days.

I bought the bike yesterday and upon setting up the account with purchase info, it indeed shows 365 days remaining of the free trial. What an awesome deal to get the 4S+ with the extra things that the $S had been missing.

I highly recommend running Zwift with the Echelon bike. I enjoy the training, racing and group ride options in the Zwift worlds so much more than the instructor led classes from peleton/echelon. The tablet is mounted on a standard monitor stand. So I replaced the tablet with a 23" 1080p computer monitor. I run Zwift from my computer over an HDMI cable to the monitor on the bike. The qdomyos app interfaces with my apple watch for recording my heart rate in the Zwift app. It's a great setup I've been enjoying since February.
