These two books were published separately and compiled into this set. The information you want about brisket is in the Franklin Barbeque book.

Edit: he edited his comment, ninja style. Originally he commented that there was a book about steak but nothing about brisket.

Buccee's over Franklin's? This man clearly lacks tastebuds

I have the hardcover of the BBQ book. It's very good. Both as a book to read and as a cooking guide.

I will caution about paperback cookbooks though - being able to open to a page and have it stay there is really helpful with cooking and most paperbacks dont do that.

I want to lament the increasing price of brisket, but the popularity is completely understandable.

Good luck!

I had high hopes when I had franklin's bbq in Austin this summer, I even made reservations for pickup 2 weeks in advance to get 1lb each of: fatty brisket, brisket, pork ribs and sausage links, accompanied with homemade sides. All 5 of us thought It was terrifyingly underwhelming, in fact, the bbq at buccee's was probably better. My austin native friend recommends La barbecue in Austin, maybe there's a difference? idk.

I had hutchins bbq the next week in Dallas, and that was miles better than Franklin's.

I have Franklin's first book, Franklin Barbecue, and it's great. He's an excellent writer as well as a master pit smoker, so the new book on steak is probably also very good reading. Recommended for those who know him but don't have either book..

La Barbecue is good. I haven't been willing to stand in line for Franklin's yet (or order ahead for takeout).

I thought the brisket at Franklin's was better but everything else was better at LA

I had Frankilns this year as well as the whole tour in Lockhart.....Franklins was amazing. I watched his Masterclass and have been waiting for these as well as his Franklin BBQ cookbook to go on sale, which it is right now. Bought them both
