It's been about 1-2 years since I picked up these drives.... Two questions:

1) Are they still shuck-able and able to be used in NAS (Synology)?

2) Are the controllers usable with non WD drives? I know that later controllers (8TB, 10TB) won't work with non-WD drives and you need to cut some wires (or something to make them work).... Earlier (4, 6, maybe 8 TB) didn't have that problem. How about now? Do the controller work as "USB" drives using non WD drives?
