I have this variant and have about 15 games loaded. Still have half the memory left
Not true, most games are like 1 GB each, with exceptions like Walking Dead that is like 8GB? Plenty of space for a casual gamer for just games.
I'd say Amazon one with $50 gift card is better than this. You'd get double the storage and also new.

There are plenty of necessities that Amazon offers. Some of which are food, hygiene, automotive, travel, medicinal, etc, etc. So unless your body, car, home is completely autonomous, it's really pointless to drag on a conversation on how you can use $50 in Amazon cash to buy things you would normally buy elsewhere and perhaps even at a lower cost.
I wasn't really looking for an answer, more of an observation as to the reasoning behind the justification of spending more money. Kind of like the idea that sales save us money.

Sold by WalMart means you should be able to return to WalMart brick and mortar if you are skeptical. Also, 64gb is plenty, seriously only one game is 48gb, re4 is 7gbs and most are 1 or 2.

Totally understand the it's on sale so I'm saving money fallacy. It could probably be said about much of what is posted on this site and if you were to stop coming here save a sh!t ton of money to invest in better places. Playing devils advocate, one could argue whether you need this VR headset at all, saving $200-300 altogether. But if you do buy it to treat yourself, an Amazon GC promo can be treated the same as hard cash if you can restrain your impulses.

I would recommend getting the 128gb with $50 gift card for $299 over this. You're just saving $50(assuming you find a use for the $50 gc) but giving up half storage and also dealing with a refurb on this one.

Noob question....
I already own Oculus 1 and already have an account
I just got the refurb Oculus 2 64GB, how do I take advantage of the $30 from referral? I do want to use the same account on the Oculus 2 tho.
Any pointers are greatly appreciated.
I would assume you make a second account to link it to. Use your quest 1 account as your referral. Share games between the two accounts.

Just checked so I could throw in my two cents. I have the 64GB version and have the following installed and am around half full on the storage:

Pistol Whip
The Room VR: A Dark Matter
Wander
Vader Immortal Pack - A Star Wars Series
Virtual Desktop
Cubism
Skrillex Music Pack
I Expect You To Die
Tetris Effect: Connected
Lone Echo
Moss
Down the Rabbit Hole
Gun Club VR
Fruit Ninja
Shadow Point
Space Pirate Trainer DX
Timbaland Music Pack
SUPERHOT VR
Monstercat Music Pack Vol. 1
Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs
Rocket League x Monstercat Music Pack
Beat Saber
Robo Recall: Unplugged
Land's End
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

So I guess it really depends on what you want to play, but for me and the type of stuff I enjoy natively on the Quest 2, 64GB has been MORE than enough. Anything larger/fancier I stream from my gaming PC to the Quest 2.

It seems the primary arguments against this deal are the size and that it's refurbished vs $50+tax diff.

As for the size, it clearly depends on the person so I'll discount that. For example I will mostly play from pc or some small games. I know there are lots of review articles discussing the difference and I thought most days the 64gb is a good choice for most people

As for refurbished, is there some past evidence that refurbished quest 2's are much more inferior? Are they known to break down early? If it's refurbished it should be passed the typical infant mortality phase in terms of reliability so a 1 yr warranty should be sufficient. You have the holiday return period to take it back in case of since obvious issue. The difference seems worth a $50 difference to me.

My question is if the quest 3 or some replacement will be coming out soon causing a big price drop in the near future. I was going to wait till cheap wifi 6e wifi aps with blan tagging became available to upgrade to wifi 6 THEN get the quest. That might not be for a few months and I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a 199 price again.

Ordered. Thanks.

Will try using it for work related VR and AR with sketchup.
What kind of stuff are you planning on doing? Are you able to view SketchUp models in 3D on top of a real world environment? Would love to hear what the pipeline is.

That depends, do you plan on doing stuff with the Quest 2 that you can't do with the PSVR?
If you're not, then no

Picked one up to try out, what should I do first?(economically) to see if I'm convinced enough to keep it. Good beta/free games, experiences, etc...

I own a 256 gb quest 2 and I only ever used 100 gigs at a time. Most games are only 5-10 gigs so this is not a bad deal to jump into the quest but definitely buy a quest link cable from Amazon to experience all it has to offer. I say Amazon and not oculus cause it's expensive from oculus I got one from Amazon for 15 and it works great.
I bought a couple cables and agreed, the amazon $15 works perfect...

That said, I never use it and finally just put it away because Virtual Desktop (or I think oculus has their own version now) is much better to use and you don't have this cable dragging around. I can't even use anything with cables now. Smilie
