I have this variant and have about 15 games loaded. Still have half the memory left
Not true, most games are like 1 GB each, with exceptions like Walking Dead that is like 8GB? Plenty of space for a casual gamer for just games.
I'd say Amazon one with $50 gift card is better than this. You'd get double the storage and also new.

That depends, do you plan on doing stuff with the Quest 2 that you can't do with the PSVR?
If you're not, then no
While I sorta agree with this, there is one big difference and it involves if you ever go anywhere. The oculus you can easily throw in with your luggage and use it when you travel, which is nice. Also, not having to use cables is another plus.

Picked one up to try out, what should I do first?(economically) to see if I'm convinced enough to keep it. Good beta/free games, experiences, etc...
There are demo's of some of the more popular games like beat saber and creed and stuff... Also there is FitXR... The exercise stuff is the most useful stuff on quest just because of the form factor (no wires and can play anywhere).

However, other things that people like that are free are Echo VR and Rec Room (depending on your age for Rec Room, lots of younger people). Also, Big Screen, install that and then go into the 3d Movie Trailers, that's kinda cool to watch.

I would avoid things like Roller Coasters in the beginning. It might sound fun, but it'll most likely make you sick until you get used to VR.

There are a number of 'experiences' and 360 videos that are interesting to watch, go check out that section as well.. The tours and such.

Obviously the best stuff is paid (saints and sinners, walkabout mini golf, real vr fishing, medal of honor, resident evil... etc. lots of them are on sale right now and you can purchase and try for a couple hours and return if you don't like.

I own a 256 gb quest 2 and I only ever used 100 gigs at a time. Most games are only 5-10 gigs so this is not a bad deal to jump into the quest but definitely buy a quest link cable from Amazon to experience all it has to offer. I say Amazon and not oculus cause it's expensive from oculus I got one from Amazon for 15 and it works great.
You do not need the link cable anymore. Airplay works great as long as you are using a pc that is wired to your network and ac/ax wireless router.

I ended up spending enough time with Walmart.com customer support regarding another item, the $25 Guardians of the Galaxy video game that was supposed to come with a steelbook but many people didn't receive it.

Last night they told me I had to speak to the manufacturer (Square Enix) to get a steelbook sent to me, and if that didn't work out, then I could contact Walmart to see what they could do next.

Square Enix told me that its the retailer's responsibility to provide the steelbook. So I went back to Walmart to let them know, and they eventually decided to just refund me back the $25, which could take a few days.

That was enough to make me try out the "refurbished" unit. If it truly does look used and a little nasty-looking, then I'll return it back.

What's the risk? if you get it and its banged up, or greasy, etc, you can always return it.

Sure there is some risk if it fails after a year but 1yr should be enough to get you past infant mortality failures (in theory).

As for 64GB, that depends on the person.
I see references to a 128GB $250 offer but it sounds like that offer is expired

so it has the standard factory warranty of 1 year, i know sometimes for refurbished they shorten the warranty time.

I wonder if these are truly refurbished or if they are simply clearing out the older versions with the smaller memory. In other words I wonder if they are, in fact, new.

Noob question....
I already own Oculus 1 and already have an account
I just got the refurb Oculus 2 64GB, how do I take advantage of the $30 from referral? I do want to use the same account on the Oculus 2 tho.
Any pointers are greatly appreciated.
You should be able to use the same old account, just accept referral before activating your Quest 2. This referral program is to encourage new and old users get a Quest 2. You should be good as long as you haven't gotten the Quest 2 referral credit before and your Quest 2 hasn't been used to trigger a referral credit before.

the one year warranty made me think that they just might be clearance stock.

i'll find out later this week when it arrives, and pay attention to the packaging and see if there's any marks on the actual plastic .

If I never triggered the referral credit on my quest, can I refer my wife to get it?
