For those who are having difficulty deciding, more power doesnt really mean better outcome. If you are just looking to prepare smoothies & blends. See this side by side in depth comparison between E310/E320 & 5300 and you can make the choice. Hope that helps in deciding the direction of pulling the trigger.

Really good deal for the 5200 at $279. This matches the June's frontpage deal. Last time it was cheaper was in 2019 at $260, so I wouldn't bank on that happening again.

The 5200 is one of America's Test Kitchen most recommended for high-end blenders.

same smoothie.
VERY different texture

not to mention ability to crush, blend, mix, etc...

not even close.

Is this overkill for just blending up frozen fruit for smoothies?
Depends on your smoothies, but most likely overkill. Will it make amazing smoothie, yes, but a lot of sub $100 will also do the same. If you're looking to make nut butters, sorbets, grinding flours and expanding culinary tools, this is great.

But again, plenty of people with the money will buy this for just smoothies.

I bought the 320 - love it. No reason to pay more IMO.
I strongly belive so too. I purchased E320 from costco about 2 weeks ago and been making smoothies daily since then. Its doing fantastic job and making smoothies better than smoothie king. I dont need a touch screen, self detect, timer or blutooth to make smoothies in a minute

How does this compare to the Vitamix.com deal on the V1200 unit and accessories for $279.95 (5-year warranty) ?
I would get the V1200 because it has the smart features which are more than likely going to be necessary for all the current and upcoming accessories for the blenders. You won't be able to use the smart scale (most useful thing ever) the food processor, etc.

yep.... the list goes on and on. I doubt any of those facts matter to the person who made that comment...
Agree, for a quick one person smoothie, I always prefer my Magic Bullet. Although not perfect, that takes up less space and with easy clean up, that is more than enough I suppose. There's a walmart deal for $15 ongoing on that one.

Worth the price even for anyone looking to buy a spare jar.

I'll answer myself. The first/most helpful review on the linked Experian model does a rundown of these similar models. Bases/motors seem to be the same. The one major difference is the Pulse switch in the E320 vs the High Speed switch needed to reach full speed on 5200.

This is the only blender which blends the seeds in the BlackBerries and rasberries. If you use no berries or nuts just plain pulpy fruits then it may not be of much use to you

I've had the 5200 for over 9 years!! I use it every day to make green smoothies and other random stuff. it's still working great. The only thing I noticed is that at low speed it kinda rattles but it's still doing what it's supposed to do. Part of me wants to buy this 5200 because it's a good price, just to have in case my current one fails but it's hard to justify. Anyway I paid $600 + for the Costco bundle waaaay back but don't regret it at all so for this price anyone interested should be all over it. ✌️

Was debating the E320 from Costco but the 5200 seems like a better deal for a bit cheaper. Not sure if all the other accessories are needed from the Costco bundle

Here's my opinion on smoothies. 21 years ago I started making smoothies on the regular. Started making them at a restaurant and later a coffee shop with the Vitamix. Of course, it works fantastic. At home, I was using a 1970's Oster. It also made smoothies just fine, but the Vitamix did do it better, as in it was slightly easier. I did take home a Vitamix from my job as we got a brand new one and they let me have the old one. Used it until the seals on the blades went and it started leaking all over. Last 10 years I've been using a newer classic Oster beehive. It works just fine and fits under my counter easier. I did at one point buy a shorter jar for the Vitamix, but just decided to sell it and use the Oster. It's perfectly fine for smoothies.

Vitamix newest Ascent series with auto detect of different containers( include go-cup) might be the reason for all the sales of older models. This is not to say Vitamix will stop production on the older model like the 5000, but newer model are coming out year after year. Vitamix One is the baby of them all.

Is the refurbished Explorian really E320? I thought E320 was Costco exclusive?
