If only this monitor was Freesync, I like all the specs except for the lack of Freesync. pass!
It seems to support VRR and Freesync, in addition to G-Sync
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re...rix-xg279q

Native 144 Hz
Max Refresh Rate 170 Hz
Variable Refresh Rate Yes
FreeSync Compatible (Tested)
G-SYNC Compatible (NVIDIA Certified)
VRR Maximum 170 Hz
VRR Minimum < 20 Hz
VRR Supported Connectors DisplayPort, HDMI
The ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q has a native 144Hz refresh rate that can be overclocked to 170Hz over a DisplayPort connection. G-SYNC only works over a DisplayPort connection, and over HDMI, the max refresh rate is 144Hz.

Correct me if I'm wrong but every G-Sync "certified" monitor is actually a Freesync monitor that passed Nvidia's tests to make sure there are no issues using G-Sync on it. The only monitors that are G-Sync only will say with G-Sync module and those are few and far between.

Absolutely no one who knows what they're doing buys a 27" monitor in 1080p.

Meh deal at best, you are pretty much paying the ROG tax at this point.

The MSI MAG274QRF QD version is also on sale for $30 less and better in almost all aspect. This is one of the best 27" 1440P 165/170hz monitor out there.

argh! another IPS 170 hz monitor with the controls in the rear. A pain to reach the controls in the rear of the monitor to change settings or change display input in a multi-monitor setup.
