I've been using a Moto G6 for 3 years and decided I wanted to upgrade this holiday season. The One 5G Ace is the phone that I _really_ wanted, both because of the headphone jack and microSD (as I have a large music collection). But the price hasn't come down as much as I'd hoped.
So I instead got the OnePlus 8 for $249 deal. I'm mostly satisfied with the purchase... but I'm already trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my music collection, since there's no microSD slot. I might just carry around my old Moto G6 as an mp3 player!
some options for your scenario are, when you're on the go
- OTG memory, which would take up your charging port
- a wireless HDD to stream from, kind of expensive and bulky
- a ZoomGo with an SD card to stream from, plugs into cig lighter or attached to a battery pack since it has microusb port for power also...$5-10 on eBay
- DLNA server app on your old phone...
at home, obviously you'd WiFi stream from your PC, NAS, or router USB drive (if you have those)
VLC, Kodi, Media monkey, etc., players can access UPNP/DLNA libraries for the above scenarios
The Pixel has a better camera and faster charging, but it's $120 more.
I would have rather had the pixel for the smaller size, but I went with the Motorola for the SD slot which the pixel doesn't have.
I think the answer would be different for everybody.
Personally, I tend to keep my phones a while, but I decided to upgrade my 5 year old phone to the 5G Ace.
I wanted to keep my SD card slot & headphone jack, and for less than $300, there isn't anything that comes close to the specs on this phone. Decent camera (48mp), 6GB ram, Snapdragon 750G, and UNLOCKED which is super important to me.
I've done one of those BB listing mistakes before. When they give you the "activated" price for both versions. It's just that the Ace looks like a winner!
Load them on by connecting phone to PC. Or Google drive or whatever cloud storage. Also if you have Amazon prime you get the Amazon music app and can upload your collection.
fwiw I had the op 8 and didn't like it. went with the a52 5g which has a memory card slot.
I highly dislike iphone but why the heck can't android do what iphone does and let you play music through your USB- apple music was so simple. plug my iPhone in my car and no loss of quality while it's charging to boot. cmon android get with it. I have ZERO issues with a wired connection to my car and wired ear buds !!
Google used to have Google play music and they killed it
I'm upgrading from a Samsung Note 3 to the motorola one 5g ace. I hope i made the right decision as i love this note 3 even though everyone else says its junk. Darn att making me buy another phone.
I want the Moto g power, but the 2022 model will be out soon for $199 with far better specs
I dont know if better specs.. at people mention, 2021 is step down from 2020 model.
And we don't know about the "Helio G37" processor", Helio processor usually under power good for battery but bad in performance.
Here is Snapdragon 665 vs Helio G35 https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-com...-helio-g35
Snapdragon 665 is in Moto g Power 2020 and slightly better than 662 in Moto G Power 2021 (with better modem download speed ...)
as today's data 2022 10W fast charging is slower than 15W in 2021 same as 2020 model
LCD 720P 90Hz is better than 2021 model but 2020 has 1080p display
speakers, 2020 has stereo speakers while 2021 doesn't, and as I know 2022 has loud speaker (which means mono speaker)
I wont go in detail... Is it better is per your opinion.... But I listed what I know for now
I have 2 years old unlocked iPhone 11 Pro which is working quite well. Only thing I miss is the 5g speed. Wondering if the 5g phone from this deal is worth it? Any other cheaper 5g phone? I am with US mobile super LTE (Verizon MVNO) service.
I think anyone would trade their moto for your iPhone 11 pro. Especially those in this deal
Glad to read so many positive experiences with the Motorola One 5G Ace, which is the one I had my eye on since seeing the deal a few days back.
rackten (?) adds 15% back, and checking out with Paypal & paying via Chase Freedom gives another 5%. Hope all of that works!
Edited to add that I purchased directly from Motorola website instead of Amazon.
Can you please send the link of the phone you got at Motorola site? Does it work overseas ?
Anything worth upgrading from a 2020 Motorola Stylus?
I bought 6 Moto G7 Supra's a few years ago when they were on a BF deal...gave them out to the whole family. Everyone loved them for a good long time...until 32GB storage started becoming inadequate. Began upgrading the household, starting with my wife, got her the Moto G Stylus 2020. Seemed ok at first, but really didn't live up to expectations...build quality not great, and camera was very dissapointing. Quickly got her the Moto G Stylus 2021....which turned out to be a MAJOR upgrade. Bigger screen, bigger battery, MUCH better camera. If one has the means, I highly recommend it. :-)
I haven't been keeping up with these phones lately, so not sure how it compares to some of the other new models. But odds are good that others may be significantly better than the 2020 G Stylus......just my 2 pence....
