Why does this three pack cost lesser than a single ring leak alarm
Because this is a Chinese brand

I think there were actually a few truly good deals on Govee before they became an SD Affiliate and got shilled by Paid SD Staff Influencers all the time.
Now SD has to get a cut :p
Promoted pumped "deal" is not an amazing price.
Govee: bring back the $20 price.
I have noticed the price getting worse when it's posted as a sponsored deal on SD than when I happened to look at the same item on Amazon the week before.

so the 5 pack without the gateway is a better deal? is that what your saying?

I like to clarify that too. Also, how they can be added to Alexa? Please explain to us (novices)

Is there a code for it? Shows up for 49.99
So I was confused too, but you have to be logged in with an Amazon Prime Account to get $12.50 Off and then "Clip" the Coupon to get an additional 5% off, came out to $35.62 for me.

I picked up the 3 pack about 2 months ago off of eBay for $25 bucks (because I missed the earlier deal and couldn't find any in the Amazon Warehouse) they DO NOT need the "hub" if you just want to use them as "dumb alerts" (which is what I'm interested in for now) and was looking for a slick deal on more of them.

I've owned a three pack for about a year. Works better than my smart things water sensors that run out of battery without warning. I'm thinking of getting another 3 pack. Great for putting by water heater - it's getting old, sump pump - never know when it will fail, behind clothes washer, dish washer - I run while I'm sleeping, fridge/freezer - ice maker that can overfill, etc.

I actually tried that with my number/provider, but the confirmation text message to set up never arrived... there has to be a way to get do it though.. still looking.
I have been doing this for years. a quick google and you can find the domains needed for the different carriers. Here is a How To Geek article [howtogeek.com] and one that lists a bunch more [avtech.com]. I have Verizon, therefore I set it up to send the email to [email protected], and in the text message I get the subject and the body of the email.

I have heard that Verizon considers these low priority text messages, and it may take it a little bit for them to process it, especially if you use it a lot. In my experience it has always been within a few seconds that I receive the text.

Only the hub is wifi. The sensors talk to the hub (or SDR radio) over 433mhz, unencrypted. You need the hub included in the kit with these specific sensors. Their own hub is limited on how many sensors it can support but I don't know the limit. An SDR radio setup has no limit but it is very tinkery.
limit is 10 per hub it looks like

I have these and they work very well! They can detect standing water on a surface. Or you can position them under a pipe and they will detect a single drop from a leak.
